The Main Building, Daewung-Jeon, In Seonwun-sa Temple, Korea
The space of Seonwon-sa temple was wider than other temples of this area.
But the architect who designed Seonwon-sa temple had organized the space of the temple very well.
Even though there were many buildings in Seonwon-sa temple, each buildings had proper space for its own characteristics and functions.
Daewung-Jeon in Seonwun-sa was so nice. They had used bent woods for the pillars like other buildings.
Daewung-Jeon in Seomwun-sa was so awesome as much as that of Ssanggye-sa.
The most beautiful building in this area of this ear must be Ssanggyeo-sa temple Daewung-Jeon.
I has posted this temple last year.
In my opinion, Daewung-Jeon was the masterpiece among the architectures in this era.
Daewung-Jeon in Seonwun-sa was not so grandiose to that of SSanggyeo-sa temple which was located in Nonsan city of 100 KM distance from Seonwun-sa.
But Daewung-Jeon of Seonwun-sa was one of the biggest buildings in this area.
Let's look around the out appearances of this Building.
It was not possible to take pics of the front due to the lanterns.
It was prohibited to take inside of Daewung-Jeon, so I took the pics from far away.
There were 3 Buddha statues in Daewung-Joen. Each Buddha had its unique hand gestures.
One of hand gesture was so interesting.
I asked the meaning of that hand gesture, but nobody answered my question.
What I know was this Buddha was the source and the principle of all existence.
Even though this Buddha had human appearance, it was not a human but an existence without appearance.
It seemed that the concept of this Buddha was as similar as God of Aristotle.
I searched the internet the meaning of that hand gesture bending center finger and putting that on another center finger, but I could not find out that meaning.
There was a stupa in front of Daewung-Jeon.
It’s style was as same as Goryeo Dynasty stupa.
Some Stupas made in Goryeo Dynasty was strongly influenced by Mongolian Buddhism.
It seemed that the stupa in Seonwun-sa was made in Goryeo Kingdom after the invasion of Mongol.
It was so nice to walking around this Daewung-Jeon.
The temple like the Ssanggyeo-sa is a very impressive temple to marvel about because of its architecture along with other temples. They are similar and I notice the log pillars over stone concrete and all are elevated to the ground.

@slowwalker, Such a inspiration photo clicks and perfect description of Seonwon-sa temple and background area. There are amazing architecture. I have wonder how Seonwon-sa temple build those days. Most of colorful lanterns increase my passion for go Korea soon. I like to research various Buddhism relief and places in Korea. Around area so cool with massive trees. Very easily can do meditation here.
Of course, Those golden Buddha statue so impressive to see provide my religious feeling.
