Honda Brings back the Nostalgic Monkey Bike
I saw one of these on the road today. It's the new 2019 Honda Monkey. Although, you wouldn't know it was a new bike unless you got a close look at it. This bike pays homage to the original Z50 of the late 60's and early 70's. A lot of guys have been restoring these over the years. I know that many guys learned on one of these as a kid. Now you can buy a new one from Honda.

The guy riding it looked as though he was having a blast. All eyes were on him and his retro bike as we were stopped at a red light. He even had a matching 70's style helmet.

It would be a fun little bike for the wife to learn on, or take camping and to races. They cost about 4000 bucks, and seem to be pretty well built. I'm sure it would last many years and we could even hand it down to the kids. I may have to talk my wife into getting one. ;)

Ah yes! Great move Honda 😀 this sure will be loads of fun to ride. Smaller bikes are becoming so much more popular now like the Honda msx125 (Kawasaki, Benelli and other manufacturers have similar bikes) and it makes sense, there great for city’s, and also fun to ride. I love riding smaller bikes.
The guy sure does look like he’s having fun! There is a drift/gymkana video of some guys on Honda msx125s, have you seen it? Looks super fun! They’re nimble and easy to control - makes me as an average rider feel like a king haha!
Haha thats awesome. I haven't seen it, but I'm going to search Youtube for it now. I have seen some guys put turbos on those Groms. Thats nuts. I've always said, its more fun to ride a slow bike fast (ripping through all of the gears), than a fast bike slow. :)

Exactly! Don’t get me wrong I love fast bikes, but unless I’m at Silverstone there’s no way I can ride a s1000rr or a 1299 on the road (to be honest even at Silverstone to the bikes max!)
Me and my friends go pit biking, it’s great fun! We race around gokart tracks on 140cc pits with road tyres fitted, so much fun!

Dude, that sounds awesome. There used to be a Kart track where I used to live that sometimes held Supermoto events, looked like tons of fun. I always wanted to do it.

@steemengines, Without no question this is an unique Bike and for sure whenever this piece will hit the road then everyone will going to attract towards it because this bike hold the unique Body Design. And mainly rider will going to hold the joy while riding it.
And whenever people see new bikes then for sure they hold an thought to try new bikes because the craze of Bikes are always stand on different levels. Hope and wish that you will soon going to have it and will enjoy these rides.

We have gone through a decade of bringing back retro car designs, and now we are seeing more and more retro bikes. I'm just glad the manufacturers are staying on top of the trends and listening to what consumers are asking for. Thanks for the thoughtful comment. :)

I like the fact that they are going to reproduce them. I had a honda dax when i was younger, they are kind of similar to a monkey but the frame is a bit bigger in size a believe.
4000 dollar is a bit pricey for only a 50cc engine. My car is probably not even worth that much. I drive an old toyota corolla. But if you have the money why not?
Do they also make them in 125cc?
