As many of you are aware, @actifit is one of the more active applications on the Steem blockchain. @mcfarhat is relentless in his coding consistently bringing out updates for both the website and the Android/IOS apps. This project has moved forward in a rather short period of time.

One of the things I like about @mcfarhat is his total dedication to Steem and the possibilities that exist here. In a conversation with his after the Dlive incident, he thought it a step back for them. His overall outlook on Steem is one of enormous possibilities. This blockchain is ideally suited for applications such as this since it is basically a turn-key operation. The basic system is in place meaning that a developer only need to focus upon his/her application.

Over the last few weeks, there were a few changes that many people might not be aware of.

To start, the payout system completely changed. For people who mention that Steem is unfair since those with SP have all the advantages, @actifit took steps to alleviate this. Upvotes from the main account, which translates into AFIT in addition to SP, is based upon amount of delegation, posts in the last 10 days, posts overall, and the amount of AFIT. Each of these enters into determining one's user score on the Actifit network. Having more SP does not give anyone an advantage over another.

Obviously, to increase one's standing is to improve/increase in any of the four areas. Adding more AFIT is tough at this point other than delegation since it is not a token that is traded. However, the idea is similar to Steem in the sense that the network wants people to invest in it by holding tokens long term. This is going to be a consistent theme, I believe, across all Steem-based DApps.

There was an update to the Android application (IOS being worked on) which added a number of features.

One new feature pertains to adding more AFIT to one's account. There is the option to get paid on the post's value in AFIT rather than SP and SBD. This is essentially giving people the ability to "buy" AFIT with STEEM albeit through their rewards.

This is a great way for all those who are committed to the AFIT project to add to their holdings. By the way, this option can be changed on a daily basis. Hence one has the ability to get paid in AFIT one day and STEEM the next. One is not locked in long-term to either one.

Here is the payout rate chart over the next 6 months. There is a premium being paid to those who opt for AFIT over STEEM which will decrease over time.

Another fantastic upgrade was the ability to add pictures. This really helps in creating more interesting posts on Steem while allowing people to express their creativity.

So what is on the road ahead?

The Actifit team is working on putting together a bounty program which will airdrop AFIT tokens to Steemians for promoting the project on social media. This is a great way for people to earn coins since many have Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube accounts. It is also a way to put tokens in the hands of more people.

We are getting closer to the integration with Fitbit being a reality. That is one of the top priorities since this opens up a huge market. Much like my post this morning about @steempress, integrating with Fitbit opens up the potential of 25M people who are presently using that company's fitness tracker. This could be a huge draw for people to come to Steem. Like @steempress, people do not have to change what they are doing. They still use the same tracker, the only difference is they can earn AFIT (and STEEM/SBD) for their activities.

The team is claiming accounts using their daily Resource Credits. Thus far, 244 accounts are reserved. This is going to tie into the update of enabling them to on board people directly without having to sign up through Steemit. There are also talks of providing incentive for those who sign up through them and buy some STEEM. This would be paid out in the form of AFIT which instantly increases their user score on the network while providing an economy for STEEM.

This also is a way to airdrop tokens on new people but find those who are authentic and truly interested in being an active part of the community. It is one thing to onboard hundreds of users yet if they just sign up and leave, nothing is accomplished. A program like this would result in a lower number of people signing up but with a greater likelihood of daily interaction.

The application is going to have more features added to it that will allow Actifiters to access other's posts and comment/upvote on them through the app. This is very handy. There is also going to be a built-in chat added which will allow people to interact with each other directly. All the fitness buffs out there can chat while getting their exercise in.

Finally, I would be remiss if I did not mention the post that talked about them releasing their Witness node. @mcfarhat is wise in his belief that DApps are going to be the driving force on this blockchain, hence it is vital that the right ones serve as Witnesses. These are the individuals are who investing time and resources into creating businesses , their businesses, on this blockchain. What Steemit does and how the blockchain is coded affects these people the most since their businesses are dependent upon what takes place. It is one thing to have my favorite application messed up; it is another matter if my family's well being was also hindered by something that was coded into the blockchain.

These are the one's with the most on the line hence, I believe, are worthy of the responsibility of Witness.

I suggest everyone read the first part of the link below and consider voting @actifit as Witness. This is another development team, in my opinion, that showed the intention of moving everything they can forward. This will only help the Steem blockchain.
