STEEM Distribution Levels

in #busy5 years ago

I thought I would have some fun with numbers. This was inspired by this Bitcoin wallet breakdown.

I basically mirrored the categories in the blue box adapting some for important Steem levels.

There are 260,876 account with at least 1 SP.

There are 117,699 account with at least 10 SP.

There are 24,975 with at least 100 SP.

There are 10,956 with at least 500 SP.

There are 7,096 accounts with at least 1,000 SP.

There are 2,191 with at least 5,000 SP.

There are 323 accounts with at least 50K SP.

There are 34 accounts with at least 500K SP.

As anyone can guess, the account numbers are bottom heavy with the lower SP having more accounts. It is similar to Bitcoin although the numbers are different.

The nice thing is that STEEM has the advantage of having things change, over time, with the reward pool. People can earn their way to higher levels. Of course, purchasing STEEM, like most have to do with Bitcoin, does speed up the process.

My question to everyone is which level is the most important?

At 33 cents, it takes a ton of SP to have anything. However, once SMTs are introduced and the bear goes into hibernation, we can expect STEEM to go a lot higher. STEEM gets back to the $4-$5 range, suddenly those accounts with at least 100 SP have something in them. Sure it is not retirement money in most countries but, in many others, it is a nice chunk of change.

It would take higher STEEM prices for the 10 SP accounts to have something but as they proceed up the scale, their accounts could be worthwhile. A 50 SP account, for example, if we get back to the all time highs, is in the category I just mentioned.

Obviously, the best thing to have happen is the 1 SP accounts keep growing at a fantastic rate which then provides the opportunity for some of those people to keep moving higher.

What are your thoughts?

to me the most important is the 'middle class' as we have kinda coined it. Im looking at accounts with between 15-35sp as being the most important. One problem we had before was the uneven distribution and people blaming the whales. with an awesome middle class, a massive pod of amazing dolphins, both curators and creators, we will be in a much better position to distribute votes to a wider bunch when we do get the next wave. Most of these dolphins will have had a serious amount of organic growth and so will know and understand steem well.

Will we have time to grow the 10 or 50 SP accounts to dolphins organically before the next wave? I dont think so, but I do think the accounts with 2.5K SP or more have a good chance.

r u ready to buy more steem? i have been buying

I bought 2kSP only 2 weeks back at 75 cent , no fiat left right now so Im happy for this lul to continue over the next month or so till I get more funds :-)

sounds good, i've been buying on the way down too ... gl to you (-:

exciting times

The larger steem holders have a responsibility to spread steem to as many new people as possible. We must find those steemians that will hold onto that steem and become part of the network.

I avoid voting for people who are immediately selling their rewards, it puts downward pressure on the price.

These low prices are a great time for small account holders to buy a meaningful stake. How many will? We will see in due course.

I am super excited about where this can go.

@kabir88

My thoughts exactly! Even those who cannot buy, engagement can go a long way at these prices as more middle class powers up, there will be more to go around and strengthen the community from the bottom upwards!

I try and upvote as many comments as possible. Engagement seems like a big challenge, but I really don't see why people make it so complicated. Just be a decent human being, read what people say and talk to them as you would any other human being.

Hopefully more people will realise that and start commenting, rather than creating low value posts and getting no rewards.

Steem is cheap enough to buy a nice amout atm!

From where did you get all this info about steem? can you share the data link with me?

steemitboards.com

only about 2500 people have more than 5,000 steem... that's a pretty tightly knit group.

what % of the total steem is available on the open market ... about 1/3? i saw that # somewhere

About 84M STEEM not vested not including the 15M SBD which can be converted to STEEM.

Steemd.com shows that.

thanks a lot ... i was actually nearly right, imagine that

Very interesting numbers I hope that more redfish will take the price opportunity to increase there SP Value.

Interesting numbers. I wonder what they will look like a year from now.
Thanks for sharing :)

I am going to guess radically different.

I never did these numbers but in my monthly report that I do at the beginning of each more dealing with the MVests, those look a lot different than they did a year or 15 months ago.

The accounts with less than 100 SP must make a revolution, the whales are stealing our surplus value!

I think this stat could be better. Like Paulag said, we need more middle class. And my own version of that it that we need more people that can at least give a $1 on at least 5 posts a day with Steem at $3. With the price this low, a lot of people are buying cryptocurrencies. This is the best time for whales and dolphins to sit-up and help active posters on here. This is also the best time for the Steem community to perhaps spread the word for new and old investors to come in. If people buy at such low prices, they'll have no trouble engaging and trying to grow that steem when the prices are higher.

I read somewhere that we need a new scheme that votes accounts that powered up. Just as a sign of support and encouragement. We could even workout a tag for them and everyone should try to curate those. The community should have a fixed way for rewarding monetary value. Not just contents.

Thanks for crunching the numbers.

Cool article, resteemed.
