What Does A Blockchain Start-Up Do With 67,000 Acres Of Land???

in #busy6 years ago

A while back, Blockchains, LLC bought 67,000 acres of land in Nevada. It was in the same region as the Tesla Gigafactory, a plant that gets a great deal of publicity for its size. However, this land is more than 3 times what Tesla owns.

The company also paid cash for the land.

So what gives?

Nobody is quite sure but when you buy enough land to build a small city, the possibilities are enormous. Thus far, the company is rather quiet about what their plans are.

They did release a YouTube video along with a statement that they will reveal more a conference on Nov. 1 in Prague.

They hope to eventually employ 10K-20K people at the site. Over the last 6 years, they operated in stealth mode.

“If you think we bought enough land that we are the same size as the city of Reno, let your mind go on what we have planned,” he added. “There will be a huge physical presence and unlike anything that has ever been seen. What we will build here will change not just Nevada but the entire planet. It literally will emanate from here. This will become the blockchain center of the universe. And because of that, all that blockchain has to offer will start here.”

I bring this up to show there is some very big stuff taking place in the blockchain world. This company, in looking at their website, believes in taking on the centralized systems of control. It appears they are tied to the Ethereum blockchain.

To me, this is outstanding news. The idea of big moves to develop projects that drive to the heart of the establishment is golden in my book. There obviously is some big money behind all of this. Heck, it might be the Ethereum Foundation or Buterin himself behind this. Either way, something big is in the works.

It is projects like these that tell me that we are at the start of a major paradigm shift. When you have people merging the digital with the physical worlds, that is what has the impact. It is something people can see.

The FUD relating to cryptocurrency is a charade meant to scare the masses off. We know that. Also, the mainstream adoption of "blockchain" is mostly a farce since it is permissioned (read centralized) which still gives the same entities control.

To enter the masses, the industry needs to get out off the tech pages and onto the mainstream sites. We touched upon is slightly this year with all the attention we received. Of course, the positive was overshadowed by the orchestrated FUD.

I truly believe this industry is going to be one of the core technologies that do change the world. As I surf through the different technology pages, the ties between blockchain, AI, and 3D printing keep popping up. It seems like that is going to be one area of convergence.

Being involved involved in cryptocurrency at this time means we are part of the early changes. As we keep discussing, that means there are a lot of challenges. However, all revolutionary changes, especially those technological in nature, are not without bugs. Even Apple had a few mishaps with the mapping programs and antennas on one of their phones. The great thing is keep developing and move on.

There are a lot of people who believe they missed the boat with cryptocurrency and that it is too late. Nothing could be further from the truth. This party is just getting started. Few realize how far we will go over the next decade. I imagine we will look back in 5 years and be amazing how ancient what we are doing now will look.

Cryptoeconomics is here to stay. This industry has the same advantage banks always had: we make our own money. This provides a tremendous leg up with seeking to fund projects. Focusing upon decentralization should enable innovation to really excel. This is something that the centralized world does not have. With the proprietary information and patents, innovation tends to slow. With open source, developers can take what is already out there and build upon it.

At the same time, individuals can be incentivized and rewarded for doing what they have been doing for years. This is another factor that is going to change the world. The levels of poverty and financial stress that exists globally will be vastly reduced over the next 10 years.

It is exciting to see projects like this spring up.

And this is just scratching the surface of what the potential is.

This is going to be fun to watch and be a part of.

I've got a good friend working for Tesla on their 4 on 3 off shifts. Point is, he's got lots of time, and is really gregarious. Wonder if he's heard anything. I'll ask him.

I'd be really interested to hear if he knows anything. Use #nevadasandbox as a tag.

Thanks for writing that. You are a consistent source of good information.

As a total non-expert I still find it fascinating to watch all these things unfold. At the moment, though, it seems like there are lots of projects that have a blockchain and an idea but it's a little more cloudy how this is all going to translate into something functionally relevant for the masses of the world. But I guess this is parallel to the Internet, in scope, and it took a good 10-12 years to get from the early incarnations of America Online ("The Internet is just for deep nerds and academics") to anything that even resembled mass adoption.

Will be interesting what they can do with that even conceptually to begin with. I would imagine a blockchain based city where everything is connected to blockchains and their DApps. Government can even benefit as a test case for elections, license issuances and even taxes. Internet of Things should be a basis as the potential of the interconnectivity of devices could demonstrate the potential of AI and blockchain combined!

Wow I'm curious.. I'm going to do some more research myself. I wish they weren't using Ethereum though. If they are indeed building something that's as large as a city, they're going to to need scalability.

The Ethereum connection is one I am making. I don't have documentation that is the case although one of the jobs appears to be with ETHnews.

If they paid cash, I wonder how much cash they have to build something significant out there. Watching this space. :)

Yeah me too. I went to follow blockchainsllc then realised they don't have an account.
Can we start a tag? #nevadasandbox would fit.

it would be great to buy some land near the huge lot that was purchased - and wait for the development to occur. I follow you now and look forward to more interaction here -David

Maybe they're going to build a city where physical currencies will be banned. All monies will be crypto currencies. It'll be a model city of how a crypto world will look like.
