The Daily Sneak 8 August 2018 - with guest curator @paradigmprospect

in #busy6 years ago

Welcome to The Daily Sneak!!!

We reward quality content, AND content curators! Come for the crypto, stay for the community!

You can earn up to 5 SBD per accepted submission for guest curating The Daily Sneak. Submission requirements are published at the bottom of each edition of The Daily Sneak.

Today's guest curator is @paradigmprospect. It’s been some time since we’ve had the opportunity to highlight his selections, and we are happy to welcome him back!

After a week at a psychedelic festival, all my views and stances about humanity have been thoroughly refocused, reset and put into perspective. I see meaning in the awful, greatness in the little things and depth in the everyday.

It is in the spirit of fully engaging in the illusion of life on Earth that @paradigmprospect wants to share the work of these 5 Steemians today, calling attention to ignored human predicaments, prevalent modes of behavior and the value of nature's role in finding back to the realization that we are an integral part of existence as much as everything else we may see as "other". Observation is key.

The Sneaked Selections

My daily Art #43 : Predators are useful in eradicating rat pests.

Since owls have been with me more than usual this year I naturally wow'ed when I saw this Steemian's artwork surrounding the mystical nature of owls.

But in addition to his cosmic art @drowkeudrow also shares with us some of the benefits for having owls near farmlands and human settlements. I always dig when art can manage to inspire, educate and transform and this post certainly qualifies.

In not spoilering the experience, here is the basic sketch before the cosmic coloring. Come check out this Steemian's awesome art skills in color and pattern for his other works as well.

Living in the shoes of another person

Often we see other people despair at their situation and challenges and think "What is his problem? Can't he just stop? It's obvious that he just needs to change." But then we all deal with our own problems in life, many of which might appear to be total non-brainers to other people.

As @maverickinvictus shares with us in this thought-provoking post, we really can't judge the issues and lives of other people simply because we are not them. The realization that we all go through our unique trials in life can lead the way to large-scale compassion for the people we meet and enables a truly valuable approach in being present with them while they work through their issues, instead of judging them from a position of assumed superiority.

White genocide and land grab crisis in South Africa which doesn't reach international news

While the international media is busy with the political evergreens of distraction for their viewers and readers, actual atrocities are overlooked and rising tensions of civil war ignored. This behavioral pattern may not be new to those who have given up their trust and support for the mainstream media, yet finding out what we hear the least about on the international stage can often shine a light on those issues most pressing. Especially if we get to hear it from actual people who live in those places, places like South Africa in 2018 where it seems civil war is in its early stages and where political genocide is being marketed as virtuous to the masses.

As @buckaroo shares with us, large parts of South Africa have fallen into utter chaos as the political pendulum of actual racism has swung to the other side, leading to mass atrocities being carried out against the white parts of the population as sort of an allegedly justified revenge against the former apartheid system dominating the black population.

In the spirit of spreading awareness about this largely ignored situation of despair, I encourage everyone to read up on this article before we get to hear the mainstream media spin it into another geopolitical fairytale.

Dogs sometimes even smarter than people

Role models are important for humanity. We all have others we look up to and model our behavior after until we slowly find out who we are and make decisions that inspire others. But this is especially true when it comes to how we interact with our pets and how we teach kids to treat their animals. Respect, kindness, and care go a long way and will manifest humanlike qualities in our pets to a degree that they sometimes forget they are animals ;)

I have often said it myself: "dogs are often smarter than people". And @methusalem shows us some witty examples as to why in a most witty and graphic post. Highly recommended to all kids out there and to pet lovers alike!

Who Are You?

The question is as timeless as it is essential for everything we do in life: Who am I?

And while the notion is important to be entertained in general concerning all aspects of life, when it comes to success on Steemit @fknmayhem relates the most successful life path of Steve jobs to our daily Steemit habits, our outlook on what we want out of the platform and how to go about becoming truly successful in writing about what moves us deeply.

Apple may have become a behemoth of hype and questionable product quality in recent years, but that does not prevent us from learning a few essential lessons from them in how they ever got to the position of market leader through the work of someone who simply kept looking for what spoke to him, and then dared to make some radical decisions.

A great article to consider for new and seasoned Steemians alike!

Submission Requirements

On to the submission requirements for The Daily Sneak:

  1. You can choose from 2 to 5 articles for your entry. Submissions with only one selected article will be ignored.
  2. All articles chosen for curation need to have been published within the last 5 days before your entry. It may take time for me to publish your curation, and curated articles need to be within the reward window when your submission is published.
  3. You cannot submit your own post for curation. Selections from nsfw will not be accepted. We also check for plagiarism and only highlight original content.
  4. Selected posts should have less than $50 in total rewards and have not previously been curated by The Daily Sneak.
  5. We try to spread the love around, so while selections from authors that have been highlighted before are welcome, they might not be included if the author's last inclusion was recent. Similarly, if you include two articles from the same author in one submission, we will typically highlight only one of the two.
  6. Be sure to include your personal bio for me to introduce you to readers, and make sure that each selection has commentary. This can be just a few sentences about why you think the selection is worth our attention, or what is great about it - something that will make people want to click through the headline and check out the actual article. English is preferred, but other languages will be considered as long as English translation is included.
  7. Please use this web form to submit your entry. https://goo.gl/forms/VH2MGIMEgqZmd9ef1
  8. Including image links to the source article is not required (and we prefer to leave some mystery if photography is highlighted and the article has only one photo.) However, we like to include images in The Daily Sneak, and not including any image links may decrease the likelihood of your submissions being published.

If you include more than 2 articles in your submission and not all are approved for publication, your submission may still be published into an edition of The Daily Sneak, as long as at least 2 articles are approved. This could happen for several different reasons. If you are unsure why an article was cut, please review the submission guidelines again. If you are still unsure, feel free to ask politely why it was cut.

Submission Reward

A brief biography of each guest curator will be included in the edition that uses their submission. In addition, each guest curator will receive 1 SBD for each article from their submission that is highlighted in The Daily Sneak. That's up to 5 SBD for each accepted submission!

Right now @thedailysneak's upvote is not worth as much as we are paying for guest curation. Why do we pay so much for guest curation? We believe that quality curation is very important to Steem. Paying our curators well encourages them to spend more time reviewing content and picking out the best pieces!
