Talking About It Doesn't Get It Done

Oh no, not another post about Dlive and Pewdiepie:

There have been too many posts to count regarding Dlive and Pewdiepie. If you somehow managed to miss the story, DLive a former Steem app, managed to snag the top Youtuber to make exclusive live streams on their platform. The move has generated a lot of attention.

I'm just going to say, we have talked about knowing Youtube is losing it's users, either by demonetizing them or banning them. We have said we should go after those users.

We didn't do it.

Dlive did.

I hear their site is looking good too.

Yeah, I feel a little envious.

Which brings me to another thought. A plan like going after large content creators and giving them rewards to hand out, so that they bring their followers, is a great promotion. However, it also has to be backed up with curation and platforms that work.

Before it can happen, It takes coordination and organization to plan, fund, and execute this type of promotion.

We have a lot of people who seem to confuse organized efforts with decentralization.

I'm convinced we can have people who are interested in promotional activities gather together for planning and funding projects without risk of centralization. In fact, I would say that is exactly what I hope the future foundation being planned by SteemAlliance will do.

It's hard for me to see a path for success if we do not organize and fund promotional activities.

What are your thoughts around organized projects with specific goals and outcomes? How would you suggest they get funded?

Let's talk about it!

@whatsup,
When STEEM up they come, when STEEM down they left! So peg SBD to $10 and see the miracle happen!

Cheers~

I infiltrated DLive last night(made an account). I am jealous, and salty and frustrated to be perfectly honest. The site is beautiful. The signup was easy. I had to make a Dlive account as well as a Lino wallet, and I did both in minutes and they have instructions that are easy to understand and easily accessible.

I think my biggest takeaway's from my experience there were

  1. There is no focus on crypto there. The fact that it's a cryptocurrency is a secondary afterthought. They are offering a service that is competitive with the current leader in that space. Blockchain and crypto enable that but, the end user doesn't necessarily need to know that. In their case they give the end user as little information about crypto and blockchain as possible as they have the entire flow from earning "Lino Points" to cashing out, worked out and integrated into one fluid experience.
  2. Decentralization is a strength for security and freedom, but it's a disadvantage for organization, cohesive vision, and precise execution. We seriously need like a think tank community to just think about and come up with proposed solutions for these issues. We're blazing trails and this is all an experiment. We need to adapt or die.
  3. I think a part of our evolution will be steering away from the faucet model. There should be more dapps that are their own thing and there should be a strong push to have an end to end user experience that is self contained in each dapp, from account creation to selling. We need to evolve from go to this site to learn about Steem, go to this site to make an account, go to this site to swap steem for something else etc.

I should probably just create my own post...

Agree with you. I just wonder how is with the wallet security on Dlive.

Might as well post it now! :) Good points.

I covered this recently dissecting pyramids. Steem itself is decentralized, any company utilizing it for their business make that growth from it a form of centralization. If there is to be a growth off of Steem, there will be many centralized pyramids coming from it. But Steem is always the base allowing it, not the centralization or pyramid itself.

I believe (and will be expounding on more soon) that smart business is to stop setting up a circle focusing within Steem and demonstrate and create apps that enhance preexisting businesses that already are solvent in their cash flow and seek to either use Steem to become more efficient in keeping more of their cash flow, or to increase the cash flow.

There is no good reason this hasn't happened yet, other than a breakdown in skill sets. Programmers aren't marketing machines, or business people for the most part. Nor those others have programming skills typically.

But we have enough proof that focusing inward within one of the preexisting pyramid structures like Steemit is not the way forward.

Totally agree!

We had big youtubers here already such as Hodgetwins, Pete, Max K, Grant Cardone, Robert K and all the crypto influencers on steem. They all left as they don’t get upvotes as all the whales rather just sell there votes with bitbots. Who’s to blame, the community. Give me that drama token 😂

Yes, I can't argue a bit. Our "Investors"... Who think investment means... taking the most out, are not into putting effort in.

They don't understand that if you want to be an influencer on steem you need to buy some steem first. These guys are loaded and I don't have any respect for them. Same with RT and Wearechange.

They don't understand that if you want to be an influencer on steem you need to buy some steem first.

Maybe that's not their problem, it's our problem.

Expecting change from potential users instead of making it more accessible for them if a recipe for failure.

That makes sense. I don’t think they realized that when first coming into the platform.

Meh, they just salty cause they arent good at kissing whale ass as some of us here. haha
And on Slowwalker point....
Why would they have to buy Steem? Are you saying that only those that buy Steem are bringing in value? Are you more valuable the more Steem you have?
Nah. Thats the attitude that got us into the mess we are in.

It may be a great option but it will still be much short in the community aspect as that is something achieved slowly. The attention will also be brought to all decentralized platforms providing the same options for its content creators of censorship resistance and community based votes to entangled more of them.

I read in one of the posts that Dlive got 100K new users next or even the same day.
I'm almost sure that steem onboarding is just not ready yet and with the system in place with all these keys I'm not sure if it ever will be.
Now you know why there is no promotion from stinc.
I would be very happy if I'm wrong.

yeah, me too.

I was wondering what the fuss was about. I need a whiskey now.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Baha!! Excellent!!

That's funny, I love that bot, unless I say something mean.

Yo! Talk to your buddy dRama. Maybe it gives you a hug. Looks real cuddly ;)

Let's see if that this stunt sticks. So far it's just talk.
Going after banned YouTubers and Facebookers looks a little short sighted. You may not like these platforms but you have to be a giant turd in order to get banned there usually. Is that the kind of authors that present Steem in a good light?

Posted using Partiko Android

That's absolutely not true. They have been shutting down channels left and right for any number of reasons.

Also my Dad creates video for websites and they have a huge problem on that side too, because they insist on ending on "Recommended" videos, which no one wants on their website.

I just dont want to end up in a wingnut cesspool of extremists... that's my worry here

Posted using Partiko Android

Pewdiepie is not an extremist of any kind...he is controversially jokey guy...sometimes the jokes don't work !!

I never said pewdiepie is ;)

I wonder how much Pewdiepie got from dlive/lino?
Celeb sponserships go a long way as well with the other factors by others.
Maybe the DAO and the foundation can make it happen? Who knows...

I'm sure there was a decent payment involved.

Question: can we afford top-notch influencers? Maybe we can but I would rather have the resources of the blockchain spread amongst more active users. What I see most times is that we are in a rush to nowhere. We are not ready for the type of attention we seek which will eventually come even if we are not conscious about it. These people who are being banned will need alternatives, we are creating that and most of what we are creating isn't ready for mass consumption. I don't care about Pewdie..whatever
I don't even think dlive can keep him on their payroll for long, maybe that's not the plan either. I still consider this a win in some way for us. Other influencers/ YouTubers will most definitely be in search of other alternatives asides YouTube and dtube is an alternative. And we might not have to pay excessive fees to keep them because they will willingly land at our doorsteps if we promote our blockchain better.

Can we afford it? I don't think we will afford it.

We don't have to go for the absolute top.

I am losing patience with waiting for our stuff to be ready. :)

i am a bit lost, is lino on exchanges? can you trade it? it looks like they are doing a good job in marketing but not so great in crypto part? or am just a noob that i am?

Posted using Partiko Android

It's not on exchanges. They have testnet tokens, but they sell and let you cash out testnet tokens directly through the site, with PayPal and Bitcoin.

thanks for the info

Posted using Partiko Android

Lino is their blockchain's name. It is my understanding it only has the one app.

I have no idea where it trades, I never hear about it except when dlive comes up.

that is also what i managed to find out so i am a bit confused. thanks

Well, we can speed up the process by having more business-minded teams behind each dapp. Tech guys are great but not many of them understand the business well enough to build a sellable service. Some don't even care about it.

It's like lord of the flies in here 😂
