We Already Have A Viable Marketing/Ads Platform

in #busy5 years ago (edited)

A few savvy people understood a long time ago we already have the ability to buy and sell ads on Steem.

Some haven't recognized it.

Some dislike it, because it leaves out the Content Creators who do not have the ability to see the business value behind it.

Those who quit looking at Trending missed that it has become a place to advertise a New Project, Excellent Articles and even make announcements for up and coming blockchain projects.

It is functional and working. Each day on Trending we see people pitching an idea, announcing a project or attempting to gain visibility for up and coming events.

The community even has the ability, if not the desire, to curate which ads we want to see via our voting power and up and down votes. It is a beautiful thing.

Each and every day people are creating ads, making accounts and buying Steem to market their work to a "warm audience".

It is a great deal for those who have figured it out because if one buys a Google Ad on twitter to pitch a project it is a "cold market" meaning there is little control who sees it.

On Steem, Projects and Devs can rightfully assume that the audience is people who have at least some interest and involvement in crypto.

The person who markets their product here also receives a certain amount of their investment back if the community loves what they are pitching and upvotes it. If the community dislikes it enough they can lose their investment.

I recently heard someone who is presenting themselves as a business leader say that he thought Bidbots were adding sell pressure. I spit my coffee.

The balance we need to achieve is for there to be enough demand for this coveted space that there rarely is an ROI on the post without community support and we need to community to use their stake to remove value from the posts that are clogging up space and do not hold value.

It is up to us.

Also, a fair point that many make is it diverts a lot of the reward pool, and this is true, but it also is one of the few operational, real market values of Steem. With an honest supply and demand

The balance has to be carefully maintained, if we can not retain enough users to have eyes on the site, there will be no reason to purchase Steem to present projects to our users.

Adding users is also the key for keeping the price of bidbots high with low ROI so it truly works as a functional economy for Ads and Marketing.

Summary:

Bidbots are a valuable means of marketing to a crypto community.
They add buy pressure for Steem
The ROI is in the hands of the community
To be more valuable we also to retain users
It is a unique and amazing advertisement opportunity
In that the community can decide what types of Marketing we see value in and use our stake to curate it.

@whatsup,
I hate to be at trending with my stupid articles, coz it might make flaggers to punch my face lol :D
Anyway STEEM and STEEMIT is a best place to do marketing and I see some people are using this platform on that purpose very well!

Cheers~

Interesting view. I think people can ignore whatvever they don't like or disagree with. Why make a big fuzz about bid bot in the first place?

If I go to Trending all I want is app news and I think at present there is a decent set of posts there regarding my reason for visiting.

Far less people seem to be boosting their breakfast photos these days, hopefully through sheer embarrassment!

Agreed and those who throw the occasional flag at the BS stuff also help regulate the content there.

Bid bots will always be hated by people who cannot/will not afford them, those who feel entitled to valuable upvotes based on content without networking, and those concerned about the whales getting richer.

One can always spend some fiat on some steem and buy themselves a bit bot or have one created.

I don’t use them but only because they are not profitable and I would rather invest in people via powering up to my upvotes are more, contests and donations and sbi shares.

I do like the idea of white lists but it is really the money that talks. The more competitive it gets and the more people investing for their portfolio, steem power and such will drive the price up. I like that.

Agreed, they will always be disliked. It is just hard to see someone who wants to position himself as a business leader not understand supply and demand.

If the community wants to stop scammers from using the bidbots they should help drive the value up, not down. :)

Also, a fair point that many make is it diverts a lot of the reward pool, and this is true, but it also is one of the few operational, real market values of Steem. With an honest supply and demand

Supply and demand rel on a price discovery mechanism.
A price discovery mechanism relies on property....

....I'll stop now, it's pointless....

haha... good to see you! :)

...still loitering.....

If the news are ok in the trending page I believe is ok to use bid bots. Marketing is important to have visibility for good projects.

Although Iam not into using Bidbots , you make some very sound and valid points @whatsup

Thank you for acknowledging that! I know you don't like them, and I appreciate those who can look past their own point of view.

Rare and respected quality.

having ads seems good idea for me, it will be a great exposure for steem. It will also make the steem community to be popular for those who didn't know steem.

I think it has improved although I mostly now rely on seeing Resteems in order to see what projects are gaining interest as the trending page still doesn’t capture it, much less the failed (but not bad conceptually) promoted page. However, with bid bots soon getting more competition for delegated SP and ROI, it will be interesting to see how it evolves.

Just thinking...

Do incentives increase if there is a possibility that content creators can make money with Google AdSense?

If Steemit places ads in the posts and the profits are divided equally, and are paid in Steem, it would be good for both Steemit and Steem, or am I wrong?
