On the other side of the window

in #busy6 years ago

Two men, both very ill, occupied the same room as a hospital. One was allowed to sit in his bed every afternoon, for an hour, to help him drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed faced the only window in the room. The other man had to be on his back all the time. The two talked for hours.

They talked about their women and their families, their homes, their jobs, their stay in military service, where they had been on vacation. And every evening, when the man in the bed by the window could sit down, he spent his time describing to his neighbor all the things he could see from the window.
The man in the other bed began to wish that those hours would come, when his world would widen and come to life with all of them; the activities and colors of the outside world.
The window overlooked a park with a beautiful lake. Ducks and swans played in the water, while the children played with their kites. The young lovers walked hand in hand, among flowers of all the colors of the rainbow. Large trees adorned the landscape, and you could see in the distance a beautiful view of the city line.
According to the man at the window, he described all this in exquisite detail, the one on the other side of the room closed his eyes, imagined; the idyllic scene.
One hot afternoon, the man at the window described a parade that; was going on. Although the other man could not hear the band, he could see it, with the eyes of his mind, exactly as the man at the window described with his magical words.
Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse came in with the water to bathe them, finding the lifeless body of the man at the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.
He was filled with regret and called the hospital helpers, to take the body. As soon as I considered it appropriate, the other man asked to be transferred to the bed next to the window. The nurse happily changes her and, after making sure he was comfortable, left the room.
Slowly, and with difficulty, the man straightened up on his elbow, to take his first look at the outside world; I would finally have the joy of seeing him himself. He struggled to turn slowly and look out the window next to the bed ... and he found a white wall.
The man asks the nurse what could have motivated his dead partner to describe such wonderful things through the window. The nurse said,
"Maybe I just wanted to cheer you up." Reflection: It is a tremendous happiness to make others happy, whatever the situation is. Shared pain is half of pain, but happiness, when shared, is double. "Today is a gift, that's why it's called the present." Sentence:

Should be find the friends like the good books. There is no happiness in that they are many or very curious; but few, good and well-known.
