B&W Photo Contest — Yesteryear — entry #1 — a portal to the past

I'm so glad my window looks east into the sunrising....
it's so splendid to see the morning coming up over those long hills
and glowing through those sharp fir tops.

entry #1 — a portal to the past

Westfield Heritage Village — ISO 100 | 50mm | ƒ/2.8 | 1/320 sec

It's new every morning,
and I feel as if I washed my very soul in that bath of earliest sunshine.

Really cool photo!

Very nice natural light photo! Who's cooking, and is he/she sharing?

It's a woman dressed in a times dress. She kneading dough using real ingredients. We didn't have time to stay for her to bake the bread. The village was closing before then.

This shot feels so old, yet it speaks to you where you are. And Anne of Green Gables, I read it so long ago. I always imagined myself living in those times. Great shot @countrygirl

A Kindred!! of course you would be!!! Have you ever watched the series - with Megan Follows in it? I've watch it so many times. There is a new one on - I started watching it last year - it's called Anne - it's a Canadian version evidently closer to the books. I liked it but it's not for children - it's pretty dark in a lot of ways and some of the topics are definitely not for kids.

One of my dreams is to visit the east coast of Canada and visit some of the places referred to in the books.

nice monochrome photo - that scene could be from the 1800's

It is. I travelled back in time from my closet :)

Great image, perfectly matches the theme of the contest ;)

I'll keep my fingers crossed. I've yet to win one. I had the opportunity to judge it and it was a long process and very hard to choose. Everyone has a different view and perspective so it all depends on what the judge had in mind calling the theme.

Thanks @asgarth.

I love the shot @countrygirl.Pioneer tymes.
I was awake for the sunrise again this morning. It was absolutely beautiful.
There is a slight fog mist rising makes for a wonderful photo. The track from the sprayer wheels they created a neat pattern in the freshly grown field. Today I just couldn't do it I hate when I miss these opportunities.
I love the old window, especially with the original glass. We changed the windows in our house but I retain the old ones. In the future somebody may want to reinstall them.

Aw...sounds like your back isn't up to snuff.....I hope that works out soon. I hate it when I miss perfect moments too. There will be more .... you live in a beautiful spot, that is for sure.

I love old windows too - I like to see the bubbles in them and the slight curve in the glass. It's great that you kept the old windows. Ya...someone might want to reinstall them or make stuff out of them.

Yes, Sooo much pain I hope it subsides soon so I can walk further than 20 ft. Wow! I am just chomping at the bit to get out and take photos. I hope you have a wonderful day @deb

👍🏽👍🏽 Nice light streaming in that window!!!

That's awesome composition! I really like the feel of this shot

That's great to hear!! Thank you!

You managed to shoot the object perfectly and lighting so good :)
