Pennsylvania Approves Cannabis Decriminalization Bill

A bill to decriminalize possession of cannabis in Pennsylvania cleared a critical hurdle on Tuesday. Under the new bill, possession of under 30 grams (or roughly an ounce, since that's how weed is actually measured by most people) would mean you'd get a summary offense as opposed to a third-degree misdemeanor, which was previously the case.

Even a third-degree misdemeanor charge is a lot better than what people in many parts of the country would face, but any change for the better should be celebrated at least to some extent. Is this going to change the world? No. Is it going to improve the lives of some people? Yeah, probably.
