Pot Politeness: Tips for When, Where, and How to Consume Cannabis
Is it OK to smoke a joint on the balcony at a friend’s party? What about at family gatherings? Will guests be uncomfortable if the host uses a vaporizer in the living room?
Why is this bullshit, you ask?
Well, for one thing, if you go to a party where people are drinking, then you're at a party where people are doing legal drugs. Assuming they're of age, that is. You no longer get to be all not-high and mighty about that.
Granted, smoke is an issue, and people have every right to have a no-smoking household. However, where cannabis is legal, you are certainly not restricted to smoking flower. Who will even know if you had an edible before you showed up at the party? I mean, if you're a regular partoker, that is.
Whatever. Maybe Canadians are just more polite than I am.

I think when it comes to smoking anything, it is polite to go where nobody is. Now it all depends on the situation. If your amongst a group of people getting fucked up, then by all means light up. But if you at a family function. Sneak to a discreet location
I just bring a vape pen and then just go somewhere out of sight for a split second. :)
