History
Alexandroupolis connects Europe and Asia from East to West with its strategic position, a crossroads of sea and land routes. The center of a truly fascinating region is this beautiful seaside town, whose trademark is a Lighthouse. Fishermen from Maroneia and Makri established a small village in the middle of the 19th century called "Dede-Agats," meaning "the monk's tree." Tradition has it that he took his name from an oak tree, under whose shade a dervish had been preached and buried.

The lighthouse is 27 m high, six stories of stone steps, and its light is 37 km away. It's hard not to notice the main and brightest attraction of the city that has been in the port since 1880. Tirelessly guiding seafarers, the old name of the city, Dede-Agats, is still listed on nautical maps.
The Evros Delta, a way station for flying migrants
Nature is the real old master in these parts in terms of artistic flair. The Evros Delta is the dream of a nature lover. Fresh water mixes with the sea to create a rich habitat for wetlands and a vital sanctuary for many water birds. Of the 400 species in Greece, 300 pass here, while the river itself boasts 46 species of fish, 7 amphibians, 21 reptiles and more than 40 species of mammals.
The Dadia Forest Ecotourist Reserve
The amazing Dadia Forest is another magnet for bird watchers and nature lovers traveling to Alexandroupoli, sixty kilometers outside the city. The hiking and birdwatching trails within the reserve's hundreds of thousands of acres will bring you near eagles, hawks, vultures and dozens of other majestic birds.
Panagia Kosmosotira, a church on the frontier
The church of Panagia Kosmosotira, important both ecclesiastically and architecturally, is located at Feres, next to the bridge crossing the border between Greece and Turkey. The religious complex and the monastery to which it belonged were built in the mid-12th century and are one of the area's most important sights.

Agia Paraskevi
Agia Paraskevi's beach is located approximately 14 kilometers west of Alexandroupolis ' capital, Evros, near Makri's seaside resort, with the homonymous famous beach. On the beach of Agia Paraskevi, visitors can find what is necessary, since it is organized with parasols and sun beds, while there are cafes-a bar offering coffee, refreshing drinks and light food for swimmers.

New Chili beach is three kilometers to the west from the center of Alexandroupolis. It is felt on the coastal road between the capital of Evros and the seaside village of Makri and the villages west of Evros, Dikella and Messimvria.

Kokkina Vrachia
Kokkina Vrachia beach is located on Evros coast and surrounded by the blue waters of the northern Aegean.
