History of the Mustang Shelby GT500
1969 is a special year for the Shelby Mustang, final year of production with a shift from Michigan to California and produced by A.O. Smith. Designed by Ford staffers, the Shelby Mustang has a complet makeover with a different nose and grille with new headlights. But the GT500 lost the Cobra tag like the GT350.
In 1969, 789 examples of Shelby Mustangs were produced by A.O. Smith. Carroll Shelby, American automotive designer known for the AC Cobra and Mustang, terminated his agreement with Ford in the summer of 1969. For the anecdote, The 1969 models unsold were sold under 1970 models.

The Mustang Shelby GT500 has 428ci OHV engine, the powerful Cobra Jet V8, with single 4-barrel carburetor delivering 335 hp. The 1969 models come with 4-speed manual transmission, independent front with live axle and rear suspension.
