A Kneading Cat II
Cat kneading in particular is a very distinct motion that sees a cat use its front paws to apply alternating force on a surface or force in front of it. Similar to kneading dough, the cat will do this on occasion on various objects and this is one of the behavioural patterns that has no clear indication for its cause. The objects can vary on a case by case basis and can even be other cats or people.
One of the most popular theories that has been discussed is that kneading is a behaviour that is reminiscent of kittenhood. It is a replication of the nursing period where a kitten seeks milk from its mothers teats and subsequently kneads at her. While cats who reach adult stage can display this behaviour, they may not be wanting any form of milk at all.
