Blue and Lilac Abyssinians

Abyssinian cats are famous far and wide and are mostly assumed to have origin from Ethiopia. They have a long history in breeding culture and gained much traction around the world as it travelled around with British soldiers after they arrived in North Africa. Naturally this would receive much attention as the exotic cat was a feat that could not be found in Britain and quickly became a prominent breed among the British cat enthusiasts. As time has gone on, many different variations of the Abyssinian cat have appeared over the years. Many different genome were introduced into the gene pool and it was sometimes necessary to strategically cross breed certain cats for population preservation. Abyssinian cats carry their own unique traits and will be easily identifiable from their appearance and personalities.

The Blue Abyssinian features the trademark pointed ears. It can be said that this is similar to a lynx in appearance and their curious and cunning eyes complements their intelligent personality. The blue variant is an exemplary specimen that shows off the exotic origins of the Abyssinian and is thought to possess some of the more prominent features from wild strands of exotic cats. The patterning of the Blue Abyssinian are deemed to be conventional and they feature darker colours on their paws as opposed to the brighter pink seen on other cats.

The Lilac Abyssinian is another variation which features a coat that is a shade of light pink with shades of greys accenting its body. As the name suggests this can appear almost purple like and the paws of this type of cat is a lavender like hue. The eyes of the lilac cat follow much of the typical variants that are seen in all Abyssinians. A little different to the Blue, they feature rounded eyes that project their curious personality.

Both cats possess intelligent minds and can be received with the same approach to care. The shorter hair fibres on their body make them an ideal pet to care for as they don’t shed much around the house if looked after with a regular grooming regime. They enjoy roaming and engaging with their household mates and owners will form a strong bond with their cats as time goes on.
