Cat Hygiene and a Helping Hand III
While it may seem fine to leave a kitten to its own devices as it feeds and grows, there are risks that present themselves if neglected for longer periods. Hygiene is extremely important for kittens as their immune systems develop. If they are left with a mother, much of the antibodies are not passed to the kitten and infections can become problematic. Providing a clean environment is only part of the accommodation when looking after orphaned kittens.
Kittens will require regular cleaning in their very first few weeks of life. Providing a warm and unscented cloth to gently clean their bodies is recommended.
