Cats and Purrs III
If a cat is purring during a process such as giving birth it is not a sense of joy, it a reaction to its stress. In this scenario, a cat’s purr is used as a coping mechanism and will stimulate functions that support rest and repair.
Purring is a distinct noise that originates from the voice box of a cat. Cats have considerably powerful vocals for their size and are able to vibrate this part of their body at a considerable speed. The resulting sound is a distinct rumble. The sounds emitting from multiple cats will differ in pitch and volume. In some cases they will not be easy to hear without approaching the cats body. If a cat begins to purr while meowing as a call of attention this is with the intention they wish to be attended to and will most likely involve an objective of food.
