The breathing rate of the cat will also increase, focusing attention on nostrils of the cat will reveal an almost pulsating like pattern as they expand and close. This last for around 24 hours and will be precursor to the birth that is fore coming. The next part of the labour process is deemed to be the most intensive and can vary greatly in time. It is entirely dependent on the number of kittens and their sizing. Breeders should exercise calm observation and not worry unless there are signs of physical difficulty. All the great care that her breeder has given her throughout the months has prepared her body for this moment and the queen will progress with her birthing.

The breathing of the queen will intensify and visible contractions will be seen as her abdomen ripples and begins to birth the new kittens. After some time, a sack containing fluid and the accompanying kitten should emerge, in some cases this sack will split but this may vary as birthing can sometimes be considerably fast paced. Once the kitten has emerged it is important to let the mother continue with her birthing. She will often procure the sack containing the kitten and begin to clean her new offspring once freeing it, at this point a breeder can observe the first cry’s of the new litter!
