La araña del sótano

Se quedaron un largo rato viendo la foto, cada uno de los detalles del entorno que rodeaban al misterioso bebe. A pesar de ser rangos altos dentro de la organización, aun se podían considerar como personas jóvenes, no por ello inexpertas. Su llegada a Speculum fue hace un cuantos años, Lin fue la última en llegar, cuando llego ya estaba Frederick y Jonas como miembro de rango intermedio. Llegaron hasta las posiciones más altas, han conocido la asamblea y algunos otros miembros distinguidos, como antiguos líderes que ya murieron o se retiraron de todo el movimiento de la comunidad, ha sido mucho lo que han aprendido en este tiempo.

Se les hacía bastante extraño que a pesar de ser miembro de rango alto, nunca hubiesen escuchado nada cerca de un bebe con un tatuaje de Speculum. Al parecer los secretos en esta organización no terminan jamás, no importa lo alto que este en la organización, no importa cuándos escalafones subas, la escalera es infinita y las respuestas se encuentran en cada uno de ellos, no hay forma de saberlo todo. A Jonas le surgió la duda de si los miembros de la Asamblea General en realidad sabrán todo acerca de la organización, o si el famoso y hasta ahora desconocido líder supremo conoce bien todo lo que está liderando, o los secretos en esta organización no son más que el fruto del tiempo, de largos siglos de trabajo duro e ininterrumpido en el mundo del contrabando. Es posible que ninguno de estos grandes líderes pudiera controlar todas las variables que derivan de una organización tan gran y poderosa y mucho menos cuando ha existido por tanto tiempo. Es también muy probable que la foto que estén viendo ni siquiera le pertenezca a Isaac, que sea solo uno de los registros históricos del castillo que por algún motivo llego a sus libros, puede ser alguna anécdota de algún otro miembro del que no se tiene pista.

– “No estoy segura si debemos reportar este hallazgo en l a próxima asamblea general”, dijo Lin.

– “Es bastante extraño, jamás escuche nada acerca de un bebe en el castillo, nunca, ni siquiera en las clases de historia que nos solian dar en mi época. Según la profesora de ese entonces, la organización siempre fue conformada por personas mayores de 18 años, sin hijos y leales. No hay motivo alguno para pensar que podría haber habido un bebe en el castillo… ”, dijo Frederick.

– “No creo que nos tomen en cuenta, es solo una foto de un bebe, y sí, tiene el logo de Speculum en un tatuaje, es bastante joven para tenerlo, es raro, lo sé. Pero mas alla de eso no tenemos otra pista de la identidad del bebe, salvo a estos artículos que recoopilo Isaac, y tampoco estamos seguros de que estén relacionados con el bebe”, dijo Jonas mientras miraba la foto – “Creo que deberíamos mantenerlo en secreto, al menos hasta que reunamos mas pruebas….”

– “Entonces… ¿simplemente lo dejamos asi? ¿No te causa un minimo de curiosidad?”, preguntó Frederick.

– “No me etan entendiendo, el hecho de que no le digamos nada a mas nadie, no nos impedirá seguir investigando por nuestra cuenta, es una foto bastante impresionante, y creo que vale la pena darle una respuesta a todo esto. Solo que, no debemos actuar como idiotas, y muchos menos dejar que la Asamblea General piense que lo somos, reunamos las pruebas primero.”, dijo Jonas.

– “La foto se ve bastante desgastada, no sabría con exactitud la época en que se tomo, estimar la antigüedad de este tipo de papel tan desgastado no es tarea fácil. Es posible que si este ser aun sigue vivo, sea un anciano. Y en teoría, puede ser cualquier anciano, la única manera de saberlo es ver el tatuaje de Speculum en su espalda”, Dijo Lin.

– “En el artículo sobre el bebe desaparecido, el padre se mantiene en anonimato. ¿Quién querría encontrar a su bebe perdido y pretender mantenerse anónimo ante la sociedad? No tiene sentido, no hay manera de saber si es el mismo bebe que buscan. En la entrevista que se hizo en el psiquiátrico, la mujer dice que tenía familia, que se caso muy joven y habla de miedo a la cuarta dimensión. Es muy poco lo que tenemos, pero me gusta la idea de seguir investigando sobre el tema” dijo Lin.

Mientras guardaban el libro, se dieron cuenta de una pequeña ranura en el sótano. Era un compartimiento secreto, quizá el lugar donde Isaac guardase los muebles que no utilizaba. Inevitablemente e impulsadlos por su curiosidad, terminaron bajando al sótano. Lo primero que vieron fue un gran conducto de vidrio, en forma de laberinto, estaba en el piso, y cubría unos 10 metros cuadrados. Dentro de él había mucha carne en descomposición, el olor era sencillamente insoportable.

Al acercarse un poco mas vieron algo que los asombro mucho más que la foto del bebe. Era una gran araña, de patas verdes, inquieta por salir y con un mirada feroz. Cuando lo vio, la araña hizo todo lo posible por salir, como si quisiera devorarlos desesperadamente. Había estado comiendo del cadáver de un venado, pero al parecer no era suficiente. Era una araña muy grande, aproximadamente 1 metro de largo. Lin temblaba de miedo, siempre le había temido a las arañas, Frederick se mantuvo en silencio y miraba las caras de sus compañeros. Jonas fijo su mirada en la araña, sabía perfectamente que no era de este mundo. Isaac tenia mas información de la que se pensaba.

As they got closer they saw something that astonished them much more than the photo of the baby. It was a big spider, with green legs, anxious to get out and with a fierce look. When she saw him, the spider did everything possible to get out, as if she wanted to devour them desperately. It had been eating from the corpse of a deer, but apparently it was not enough. It was a very large spider, about 1 meter long. Lin was trembling with fear, she had always been afraid of spiders, Frederick was silent and looked at the faces of his companions. Jonas fixed his gaze on the spider, he knew perfectly well that it was not of this world. Isaac had more information than was thought.
