May 30 Days Writing Challenge - Day Eighteen: IWhat Other Social Media Platforms Do You Still Use? Why?

There was life before Steemit and we were posting, commenting and sharing our thoughts, reactions, videos, photos and life on a variety of platforms. Steemit gave us an opportunity to monetize these things that we post about and used in a variety of ways from personal gains, to advocacy and charities that we support.

I spend about 6 hours a day in Steemit from posting, commenting, replying and of course, connecting in various discord communities that I am active in.

A large part of my time is spent in networking. Although your content should be good but since this is also a Social Media Platform that is built on top of a cryptocurrency blockchain so social is a keyword here.

If you are the post and run type it would be hard to get people interested in you more if you even bother to reply to comments.

Communities are important.

Anyway, this post is not how much of a Steemit addict I am! this is about what other social media platforms do I use aside from Steemit! Damn Steemit always getting in the limelight haha.

Facebook

Before Steemit this is where most of my engagement would be coming from. I wrote so many posts here, shared my views on politics, weighed in my thoughts on bullying, catcalling and was involved in several freedom thinkers group that wanted to be woke.

My Facebook profile is set to the highest privacy setting as I am a person that values my privacy and would only connect with like-minded people. Then the whole Cambridge Analytica scandal rocked Facebook and people were so paranoid about what was being shared.

We reviewed our permission settings and removed all those apps that at one point we have given access to because we played them, shared a joke about which celebrity we look like, or how we would look like if we were the opposite gender, we even asked friends if they used such apps because friendships could be used by unscrupulous apps developers to get data from accounts that did not even had it enabled as long as someone connected gave access.

Nowadays I still use Facebook but only to chat family members and some friends in other countries.

Even communities that I was active on Facebook before I am no longer as talkative as compared before as I have moved to Steemit for such discussions.

Instagram

Ah yes, that favorite stalking tool for the stars, chefs, and models. Oh whoops, that is my Instagram Profile haha.

I still check my Instagram feed for the latest food porn from my favorite chefs both local and international ones.

I also look at "fitinspiration" photos and videos. Yes truly hahaha!

LinkedIn

I cannot help but still maintain this as in looking for profiles and researching in background checks for potential candidates, LinkedIn is still my go-to platform professionally.

I hire everything from entry-level people ,to managers, programmers and even executives. After Googling someone, Linkedin has the best information on their work and educational background.

Twitter

I mostly just use Twitter for airdrops and bounties hahha. The content is just too short and too many.

Reddit

Nerd alert!!!! Yes, I am a nerd and I still look at my Reddit communities and subcommunities. It is just a matter of time.

I read all sorts of things from Game of Thrones, to video games, to political intrigue and conspirancy theories.

Once you are in Reddit is is hard to get out as you read each comment and reply and before long you realize it is morning already and you have no time to sleep!

So what about you? What are the platforms that you are still active in?

I still use Facebook and Twitter but that's pretty much to share my day job posts because my boss hasn't jumped on the Steemit train yet (I'm working on it though!). I have gotten quite a few creepy DMs from guys on Twitter so I tend not to interact with people too much there. For Facebook, I keep it around to share in the lives of my close friends and relatives since I don't live close to many of them. I gave up LinkedIn because it just really didn't meet my needs. Great post, Mav!

Ahahha yeah I bet female friends of mine get it all the time especially in Instragram.

Linkedin unfortunately is still an Human Resources best friend hahhaa so I can't get rid of that. I have about almost 2k connections there. People I have recruited, worked for or met in seminars as well as potential hires lol.

Unless I get my whole family to Steemit or some other Social media decentralized App hahaha.

I have very little experience with Instagram because I created an account and didn't really like it but I feel for your female friends if they are having creepers contact them. It's definitely not fun! Meh.
LinkedIn is great for professional connections and for getting your resume out there. I just don't really need to maintain that many professional connections like some people do. I can definitely see how Human Resource managers would utilize it though because its pretty much designed for HR professionals.
I'm sure eventually we will be able to get all of our friends and family on Steem! It may take some time though :)

How do you still find time to work? It sounds like an exhausting social media schedule!

A lot of multitasking, 2 computer monitors, 2 mobile devices and finding a posting and checking rhythm especially for Facebook engagement of candidates for work.

I created an account with so many social sites but I only interact on Twitter most of the time. Sometimes I use Facebook fan pages, Google+, LinkedIn and Pinterest to share articles. Facebook messenger for relatives/friends.

I only use Twitter for airdrops and bounties hahahha I still have some use for Facebook fan pages especially for specific niches and work that I do.

Pinterest for some DIY projects. Linkedin is a must for Human Resources hahaha,

Facebook and Instagram sound like the hardest two social sites to give up. LinkedIn—I'm not surprised you're on it, but I am surprised that others are. It's not necessarily the most fun stop on the social media tour. I guess social doesn't have to be fun as long as it's beneficial in some fashion.

I've only delved into Reddit for a very short period of time and was kind of freaked out by it. I've had similar moments here, so Reddit doesn't have an exclusive on freak out moments. I don't know. There's just some deep, dark things that probably should be left alone because they really don't add or contribute to anything. If nothing else, they hurt more than they help by messing with your head. :)

Well for Linkedin it is more for work and some networking activities since I am in Human resources.

It is a great way to find candidates and like-minded individuals and companies.

A lot of useful articles as well for human resources.

Facebook most of my friends and family is still there and so fastest way to connect and know how they are doing.

Oh man I agree on Reddit and especially some subreddit which is like WTF am I reading hahahha.

Well, I wasn't very happy to discover that Steemit aspired to be the crypto-Reddit. It's like, oh great, you want to reward people for all of those strange and dark attitudes and theories? I guess it's a good thing there's more of us 'mainstream' people coming in to try to diversify up the place, because, whoa, some people walk in places that no one should walk, let alone share it with others.

It is still trying to be Hivemind and communities are patterned after the Reddit and Subreddit format.

Yeah every platform has its weird and WTF did I stumble to hahahhahha. People are proud to share their weirdness hahaha.

Yeah, I know. Let's keep going down the Reddit model. Well, whatever. I can't control that, so I'm just going to keep going until I can't do otherwise because people went elsewhere and Steemit ran aground, or my wife finally puts her foot down, whichever of the two comes first. :)

I deleted all of my social media accounts. Though, to be honest I have never been really active on them anyways besides reddit. Yes reddit is really cool. You can find everything on reddit. I really loved the r/photoshopbattles subreddit. Yet eventually reddit is mostly a waste of time and steemit is a good alternative due to the monetization aspect.

Oh and I just saw that reddit changed it´s UI. It sucks!

I was wondering about that and was just thinking it'd just because I haven't been on it for quite awhile and may have forgotten to Reddit lol.

It is such a time sink lol that you just don't know how to stop hahahahaha

But I agree that steemit is a good alternative and with the Crypto as well so it's a win-win!!!!

Think snap is perfect for easy chatting with friends. Scrolling through Instagram, and Facebook

I've never gone through snap chat but I do WhatsApp and Viber lol

Especially if I don't want to connect with someone in Facebook hahaha.

Yeah I just mostly scroll through content there.

Good post
Visit my blog

I can't speak for Mav, but if it were me, I know I'd appreciate knowing why you think this was a good post. I would also most likely ignore the request to visit your blog. While this is a social site, Steemit has its own rules of etiquette and most folks prefer meaningful, on topic comments about their content, rather than being asked to go look at someone else's.

True that Glen and I don't have English as my first language as well but at least I make an effort.

This is the wrong type of commenting and would have gotten a flag on some people.

Well, for what it's worth, I feel sometimes like I have to at least try to inform, whether it ends up going somewhere or not. So far, there's only been a time or two where someone has responded. That's okay. As it is, I'd rather save a flag for a positive vote somewhere else. I feel the majority of spammers are largely wasting their time (most aren't going to get anything for their comments) than they are wasting mine, when I have a chance to at least coach them up a little. :)

And your English might as well be your first language. Some people have a knack for it, and you're one of those people. I'm surprised anyone outside of native speakers can even learn it. It's got to be the most jumbled up language to learn there is. Virtually an exception for every rule. It's why too many native English speakers (at least in the U.S.) are considered lazy. It's like, once you learn a language with far less structure, learning some other language should be easier. :)

Yeah this is how you do commenting wrong when you don't leave a comment that states why you liked it or how you understood it.
Worst you turn it to yourself. If I didn't think my voting power would be of better use in upvoting posts and comments that I like you would have earned a flag here.

I like the many good posts like this
