May 30 Days Writing Challenge - Day Fourteen: What’s Your Favorite Writing Topic? Why?

in #challenge30days6 years ago (edited)

Wow it has been 14 days since @dragosroua has started this challenge and we had quite a number of very good topics that were covered. Things like what is more important SMT or Hivemind, How you see Steemit in 5 years and the reason why you stay in Steemit.

All these questions made people think and explore the various reasons and it was great exercise. The thing is there were no big prizes of 100 SBD or SP delegation but it moved a community to join, ponder and write down their thoughts.

Today's exercise is about what is your favorite topic to write about. Well, what I usually write about is me! My musings, my reaction or thoughts on certain things and guides to Steemit.

Me

Well, this is the easiest topic that most people would write on because who else is the most expert about a person but themselves.

When I joined Steemit I was suffering from a major depression episode. so mostly what I wrote was posts that talked about the pain and suffering that I was going through. I wrote of dark thoughts and grim moods.

I was a broken man in need of care and understanding and complete strangers would leave wonderful words that I am not alone, that they too suffer and a lot would say that they overcame it. It was as if a warm blanket of safety and compassion enveloped me and dispelled some of the demons in my head.

They are still here but their voice muffled by the beauty of the people around me. So I write to inspire and motivate people that they are not alone.

Community and Engagement

When things started to get better I wanted to thank the Steemit community for being so wonderful and I did my best to help each person that I can.

I joined communities, answered questions from newbies and created guides! I have made so many guides from starting in Steemit, to markdowns and of course the importance of communities!

This is the latest guide I made and is sort of a Welcome to Steemit kit I prepared.

What is Steemit? | A place to unlock the most awesome you!

I am highly engaged and was spreading my vote and commenting. I was averaging about 15-25 comments a day and has been a part of The Curation and Engagement Leagues - Sponsored by @carlgnash and @paulag! for quite some time now and is almost always in the top 10 Engagers in the league.

Steemit things

Aside from guides I have given a lot of my two cents worth in things that matter in Steemit namely Witnesses under my This Redfish understanding of Witnesses and why they are important and the Dust Threshold You are a Zero | The Dust Threshold

It really helps being engaged and talking to different people as you continue to learn new things and when I learn something I like writing it down and sharing it with the rest of the people.

Charity

This is something really close to my heart and I regularly write posts for donations to the school that we adopted.

We have been doing this for the past 12 years and this year we will be using the donations and upvotes that we have received to fund the giving of school supplies for 500 children.

Promoting Steem to Gift in Kind Foundation| Our first step to modern fund raising

This is the best thing that I can see what I can do with Steemit. To bridge a gap for the people that have Steem power to exercise the gifteconomy and provide an opportunity to indigenous people.

This was remarked by one user that I don't do niche writing. That the topics I have are all different. It is as I don't really have one favorite topic because I am the sum of different parts.

I have different aspects, interests, passions, and moods. I have never been a technical writer and even when I was writing for the school newspaper I would be assigned different topics that they want to put a humanistic spin on it. I would say that I am an emphatic writer.

So what is your favoite topic that I write about?

Same here! Espesealy since i'm new!

Hehehe and I see nothing wrong to it when we express ourselves.

I write what I want to write but mostly it is about photographs and relate that to life, what I feel about it, what I feel about certain places, my experiences. Since @ulog has been initiated, I talk about my day and more. I have opened more here than I have with friends or in other social sites. It is therapeutic and liberating. When things get low, I come to steemit to distract myself from all the things going on. I engage and have fun. I wish I could be more expressive as you are and have more thoughts in various topics. I also try to help in any way I can here in steemit. You have made your mark and have encouraged a lot. Keep encouraging us all! Good luck with your charity!

Yeah I think that the #Ulog movement is great and what if we are personal bloggers in this Platform.

We are trying to share us, our thoughts and experiences. When people reach out and resonate with our stories it is a magical thing.

Well you will get there. I want to focus on the good things that we can do for the platform and less on the hate and negativity.

We are better than that.

I comment on posts that I can relate to. It is interesting to read stories and experiences. It's wise to focus on the good things but sometimes it's inevitable to speak of the bad things. However, we can still look for the good things from that. It is a learning experience being in steemit.

I appreciate you sharing your challenging beginnings. I also take my hat off once more to the man who has risen out of the darkness of depression to bless himself and those around him. Blessings.

Awww thank you Mistermercury it wasn't easy. It was wonderful that a lot of people though helped me in my recovery.

So this is just my way of paying it forward.

I love the posts about you, in fact, yours always seem to make me feel like I'm getting to know you a little bit more each time. Those are the posts I enjoy reading from you...the personal ones. I love that you've been funding your school charity for 12 years now. So awesome!

Hehehe thabks Lynn! Yes that Charity is awesome as we get to change the lives of a number of kids and provide them with more opportunities

Provide women and children with opportunities...the best way to change the world ;)
