THE INTENSITY OF OUR DEBT
It was a debt that no servant of any ruler in the antiquated world could ever have the capacity to pay back. Jesus is comparing us to debtors like that, saying that we are debtors who can't in any way, shape or form pay our debts. Each time I infringe upon God's law, I turn into a debtor. My huge debt to Him is unending. That is the reason it's absurd to imagine that we can work our way into paradise, since perfection is expected of us. What's more, on the off chance that we sin only once, there's nothing we can do to compensate for that transgression, since we were at that point required to be perfect and without blemish. So we are debtors who can't in any way, shape or form pay our obligations.

This man, similar to the tax collector in our previous posts, had nothing with which to deal. He had no guarantee. He had no money. In light of his debt, the main thing he could do was ask for forgiveness, daring to dream that the ruler would give him additional time and be patient to the point that he may have another opportunity to compensate for what he owed. In any case, how absurd was that? Since regardless of whether the ruler had limitless tolerance, forever would not have been sufficiently long for the man to work off his debt. He was a debtor who couldn't in any way, shape or form pay, and he didn't understand the tremendousness of his debt. However, he knew enough of it to understand that his exclusive expectation was in the sympathy of the ruler.

At in the first place, the lord summoned that the servant be sold: "And since he couldn't pay, his lord requested him to be sold, with his significant other and youngsters and all that he had, and installment to be made" (v. 25). The servant tumbled down before him saying, "Have tolerance with me, and I will pay you everything" (v. 26). Furthermore, the Lord was moved with significant sympathy. His pity was great to the point that he discharged the indebted person from the commitment inside and out.
