Understanding Why God Blesses

in #christianity6 years ago

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Gen 12:1-3

As Christians, God is our Father.

Matthew 6:9

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven...

The same way an earthly father wants his children to prosper in all things and much more is the way our Heavenly Father wants us to be blessed beyond measure and in all things.

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

However, there's a particular reason for which God blesses His children.

Locating and aligning with this reason or purpose makes the believer command his/her Father's blessings speedily and effortlessly.

So, what's this purpose?

Before we go ahead to see the purpose for which God blesses, it is very vital for us to understand that kingdom wealth isn't something we achieve or attain but something we are entrusted with.

Luk. 16:11

If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

OK, so what's God's purpose for blessing His children?

... and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing

... and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

God's primary purpose for blessing His children is so they can be a blessing to His kingdom, their fellow men and the world in general.

God will not bless anyone beyond his commitment to kingdom promotion endeavours.

Zechariah 1:17

Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

God will not bless anyone beyond his commitment to bless the needy around him.

Pro 28:27

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

God will not bless any man beyond his commitment to being a blessing to his world.

... and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Commitment and alignment with this purpose is what secures the hearty and speedy blessings of God on our lives.

Peace!
