THE ADAMIC NATURE( bible Text: Romans 7:14-25)
Introduction
Adamic Nature Simply refers to the old sinful nature (Romans 7: 18). it
could also mean everything within us that is more loyal to our old way of selfish living. Courteously, it is a sinful nature that man inherited from his first
parent. (Psalm . 51:5)
At the onset, when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, they had the nature of God characterized by Holiness (Leviticus 11:45,1$am. 2:2) but along the line, Satan came and tricked them to disobey God's instruction. in their quest to gain independence, they broke their contact with God, the source of all life and fell from grace to grass. The nature of God departed from man and the sinful nature took over. (Gen, 3: 1 -9, 23, 24). Thus Satan is the origin of the Adamic Nature. He is a crafty tempter who makes people to make excuses for committing sin.
Sin, according to the Bible, is the transgression of the law (1John 3:4). Every sin is an act of rebellion against righteousness, thus, sinners are unrighteous. No matter what may be your rank or status, if you transgress
God's law in any way, you are a sinner. For man to be free from this Adamic nature, he should, instead of trying to
overcome sin with his own human will power, take hold of God's provision for victory over sin: the Holy Spirit, who lives within him and gives him power.
Reflection
(1) The seed of transgression lives in you because you were born with the
nature of sin (Psalm 51:5).
(2) Worse still, you can not stop sinning on your own.
(3) The good news is that, God has made a provision in Jesus Christ to break
the yoke of sin in your life. (Romans 5:8). Therefore, stop struggling with sin all alone, come to Jesus, confess your known sins to Him (Rom. 10:9-10; Prov. 28:13).
(4) To overcome the adamic nature; flee all appearances of evil (1Tim. 6:11), be consistent in your walk with Jesus, and abide in Him always. (John 15: 4). When you do all these, your Adamic nature will be replaced by the nature of God and you will experience a new heart to do what is right.
