SPIRITUAL FOOD FOR THOUGHT - ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH

I could never do that!

Many believers limit the power of God in their lives. When faced with something He wants them to do, often they reply with, "I could never do that." Unfortunately, this becomes a "self-fulfilling prophecy" and, much like Jesus is recorded as saying, "Let it be according to your faith."

When people are not willing to let the holy spirit empower them to do what God is calling them to do, then they are correct, they CAN'T do it. Hopefully, we will learn to pray, "Lord, increase our faith" instead.

Makes sense. Never home schooled. But my kids went to Catholic schools for most of their education. Had to make a lot of sacrifices to do this. No motorcycles, campers, jet skis ect.

Yup, a private school over free education is a choice that leads to sacrifices.

The question is not if "I" can do it...
The question is, will I allow God to do it through me.

Great post, sir! Now that I'm retired I'm doing more in His service. My wife and I lead a seniors group and I'm on the church board. I had to take a break when I had a stroke in May, but I'm back in good form these days holding up my end as best I can. I have about 95% of my life back since the stroke, but I still get tired quickly. With all you have going and still have time for some evangelical activity is great!

Yeah, I've got plenty to work on down here, but most won't really last, will it? Gotta invest in the eternal too!

Well, we all do what we can.

Over here @chucks2u32 it's totally different somehow. My Sundays school teachers normally say to us, do his will wen you're much younger for when you get old it'll be difficult. So I'm asking, how easy is it now that you're getting worn out than to then when you're young

As a younger man I thought I have plenty of time to repent and straighten out my life, but the choices we make when younger are not easily smoothed out as we age. I wish very much that I had done more to educate my children in what the Bible teaches us about right living.

Great thoughts, totally agree. We have homeschooled and heard the same thing, we have also adopted a child, and heard the same. "I could never do that," somehow makes it sound like because we are doing it we have some type of super power that makes it easy. That is not the case. It is just as hard for us as it would be for you. We are just willing.

Wow, you are so right! Willing is all that it takes. Thanks for being willing!

It baffles me how much some will limit God. I’ll hear things like, “I have to get this done today because it’s supposed to rain tomorrow.” Who’s to say God won’t bring you sunshine if you obey Him? Or maybe the rain will come but it will go all around you.

If only they give Him a chance to prove His promises, it may be easier for them to trust once they see His work in their life.

Right, it is best to give him an opportunity!

Great @papa-pepper. It's my pleasure to learn spiritually from you. Keep posting keep boasting our spirits!!.

I love this video! Well done!

I get that same “can’t” story all the time when I’m leading worship, or even just playing music. And the funny thing is, from my perspective, I’m just playing because I love God and love singing His praise and love delighting in His Gift. I actually do not like being the center of attention... but I’m called to worship (He’s sent me Isaiah 6:2-3 and 42:10-13 on quite a few occasions, so I know that’s what I’m supposed to do), and so I worship.

I think many need to remember that it’s not about them... it’s about GOD. Worship service isn’t about me performing or entertaining the congregation... it’s about God. ❤️ All I have to do is play.

I could never do that...

Meaning, they usually don't have enough money to buy their way there.
However, people with no arms and no legs have done amazing work from the same starting point.

Some of the greatest people made huge impacts because they found a way to do it without money. To go around the system. To make a path where none was before.

And when you feel God's guidance, it is even easier. Sure, you have to hack your way through the jungle, but you have this light showing you were to make your next step.

I have to tell you this. Just today I was thinking about a brief conversation I had with another Christian about eating meat. This phrase you used today, "I could never do that" was the gist of his reason that vegetarianism was best. And "we have better ways of getting protein than killing something". I'm plagued, it seems with the Timothy syndrome. I suffer from self imposed timidity. I know it's hard to believe that. So, you explained it perfectly. And when you did the scales fell from my eyes. I can now see why vegetarian has an issue with killing something. It's according to their faith. A self fulfilling prophecy.

However, according to my faith, I prefer... "Rise Peter, kill and eat." He faltered, but what God has cleansed, right? And, he went to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a gentile! Imagine the gossip in choir practice that Sunday! Really, a gentile in our church!?! Thanks a lot, "Pebbles".

So, today, He is my personal Great Physician. And yes, because he is here, with me. I believe I can go too. Like Pebble did. (Not rock, but Pebble, as the confession that Jesus was and of course still is, the Christ, the Son of the Living God was the Rock that the church was built on. Not Peter).

Great lesson today! Blessings brother.

Off the subject. I saw another of your videos on YouTube today and for some reason, I can't get Jonah out of my head. When he went the wrong direction he was swallowed by a fish. Then when he went to Nineveh to preach repentance, he got mad when they did repent. You talk about backwards, and he has his own book in the old testament. And the three days in the fish story was about Jesus' death burial and resurrection on the third day. WOW! You talk about God using us. Jonah had no intention of being obedient. Yet, when he did, he was angry that the message of repentance worked! There's always a way that God will use you, even if has to have us vomitted out of the fish, and then, be able to make your preaching count when you hoped the city would be destroyed.

What an amazing and powerful God we have. Gotta love the Gospel!
