Miracles Are for Granted--If You’re Child of God

자정이 넘은 시간에 휴대폰 전화가 울렸습니다.

My phone rang in the middle of the night.

저는 평소에 무음으로 해놓고 낯선 전화를 받지 않는데다, 자정이 넘은 시간에 전화를 하는 사람에 대해 관심조차 없어요.

I usually don’t answer calls from unknown number--my phone is usually silenced. And I’m really not fond of calls that come after midnight.

그런데 전화가 끊기고 문자가 떴습니다. 살려달라고.

The phone got quiet. Then it lit up with a text message, “Help me!”

그래서 본능적으로, 무슨 일이냐고 답신을 보냈죠.

So I replied asking the person what is going on.

그랬더니 귀신 때문에 너무 고통스러워 죽고 싶다고 합니다.

The person replied me, saying she wants to die due to the pain demons cause her.

그래서 귀신을 뽑아줄 테니 영성학교에 와서 기도훈련을 하라고 했어요.

So I urged her to come to CSA for me to get those demons out.

그랬더니 전화통화를 하면 안 되겠냐고 통사정을 하는 게 아닙니까?

After that text message, she asked if she can call me.

그래서 휴대폰을 집어 들었습니다. 전화가 연결되는 것과 동시에, 자신이 얼마나 귀신에게 고통 받고 있는 지를 속사포로 쏘아대기 시작했어요.

So I agreed to talk; soon as I picked up the phone, she started to list all the symptomes she has and how much she is suffering.

그래서 다 알고 있으니, 영성학교에 와서 기도훈련을 하라는 말을 반복하고 끊으려고 했습니다.

I told her to come to CSA, for I am very much familiar with everything she talked about.

그랬더니 제가 바리새인이라고 쏘아붙이는 겁니다. 죽게 된 사마리아인을 본체만체 하고 지나친 그 바리새인말이에요.

Then she called me a Pharisee that left the Samaritan to die.

그래서 제가 정색을 하며, 도와주려고 전화를 해서 영성학교에 와서 기도훈련을 하면 귀신을 쫓아주겠다는데, 제가 왜 바리새인이냐고 다그쳤습니다.

So I confronted her, asking why I would be called Pharisee after my offer to help her get rid of the suffering she’s going through.

그랬더니 아무 말도 없더니 전화를 끊었습니다.

Then she hung up on me without a word.

그녀는 제가 전화로 축출기도를 해서 귀신을 쫓아주기를 바라는 마음으로 전화를 했음이 틀림없습니다.

I think she expected me to get rid of the demons via phone call.

그랬는데, 영성학교에 와서 기도훈련을 하라는 말에 급실망해서 전화기를 내려놓았을 겁니다.

She was probably disappointed when I urged her to come to CSA, instead of helping her right away through the phone.

이런 일은 제겐 흔한 일상일 뿐입니다.

This became the usual for me.

그동안 영성학교 문을 열고나서 천명이 넘는 이들이 찾아왔습니다.

Over 100 people have visited CSA.

그들 대부분은 지옥같이 사는 사람들이었죠.

They were miserable--most of them, anyway.

목회자들도 적지 않았어요. 어떤 목사는 아들이 귀신이 들려서, 부산에서 온 목사는 정신병원에서 딸을 데려왔고요.

Many pastors visited as well. One of the pastor had his son possessed; one came all the way from Busan with his possessed daughter.

어떤 어머니는 자폐증으로 분노가 하늘을 찌르는 아들을 데리고 왔습니다.

A mother brought her autistic son that was always enraged.

멕시코에서 온 선교사는 딸이 정신질환으로 망가지자, 급기야는 사역을 중도에 그만두고 한국에 들어와서 수소문을 하다다 저를 찾아왔습니다.

One pastor stepped down from his ministry and came all the way from Mexico, after looking for help.

목회자들이 그럴진대 평신도들은 말할 것도 없죠.

Pastors are like this, and there is no need to talk about regular attendees.

지금까지 찾아온 사람들의 이야기를 방송국으로 보내면 인생극장을 몇 년을 할 분량이 될 겁니다.

If I send these stories over to a TV station, I could probably make TV show that would run for years.

그러나 그들 대부분은 그냥 빈손으로 돌아갔습니다. 왜 그랬을까요?

But most of them just left empty-handed. Why?

제가 부모도 기도훈련을 해야 한다는 조건을 받아들이지 않았기 때문입니다.

They left because they did not agree to participate in prayer training.

그냥 머리에 손을 얹고 기도해주기를 바랬는데 말이죠.

They just wanted ME to pray for them and make all their problems go away.

그렇다면 왜 제가 굳이 기도훈련을 해야 그들의 문제를 해결해준다고 제안했을까요?

Then why did I not just do that?

저를 찾아온 부모가 목회자이든 평신도이든 간에, 자신이나 가족들에게 귀신이 들려있거나 정신질환으로 고통을 받는 문제를해결하지 못하고 있는데 그들 안에 성령이 내주하고 있을까요?

Whether pastor or not, would Holy Spirit let people suffer, had he dwelt within them?

그래서 저는 그들에게 성령이 없으니까 성령이 내주하는 기도훈련을 하라고 요청한 겁니다.

That is why I urged them to pray for Holy Spirit’s indwelling.

그러나 그들 대부분은 제 주장을 인정하지 않았습니다.

But most didn’t agree with what I said.

그래서 또 다시 지옥같이 사는 것을 선택할지라도, 제 제안을 내팽개치고 총총걸음으로 떠났던 겁니다.

I guess they’d rather suffer than take my offer.

제가 처음부터 그랬던 것은 아니예요.

I wasn’t like this when I first started.

제가 충주에서 영성학교 사역을 하기 전에, 대전의 원룸에서 성령으로부터 훈련을 받고 있을 때는 기도훈련이 없이, 축출기도로서 그들의 문제를 해결해 주었습니다.

I did cast demons out for whomever that sought help, in my DaeJoen days before CSA.

물론 문제가 해결되면 기도훈련을 하겠다는 확답을 받았었죠.

Of course, i was promised that they’d train after their issues get resolved.

그러나 그들은 한결같이 문제가 해결되면, 언제 그랬냐는 듯이 증발해버렸습니다.

But they all disappeared once their issues were resolved.

그들이 문제를 해결 받았는지는 모르지만, 다시 귀신이 들어오거나 정신질환이나 고질병이 재발될 수도 있으며, 문제는 그들이 이 땅을 떠나면 지옥에 간다는 겁니다.

I’m not sure if their issues were resolved for good; they could recur; and those people may be headed straight to Hell.

만약 성령이 내주하는 성령의 사람이었다면, 귀신이 자녀에게 들어와서 온통 헤집고 있는데 속수무책으로 당하고 있을 리가 없지 않습니까?

If they were true people of God, they wouldn’t have suffered from whatever demons threw at them.

그러나 그들은 자신의 무능과 무기력을 보고 있으면서, 정작 자신들 안에는 성령이 계신다는 것을 절대 의심하지 않고 있으니 기가 막힌 일입니다.

They were confident about their faith and salvation, even though they were watching their loved ones suffer.

왜 이런 일이 생기는지 아십니까? 그동안 신학교나 교회에서 배운 교단교리 때문입니다.

Why? Because of the theologies we’ve learned in church and seminary schools.

교단교리는 교단에서 추앙하는 신학자들의 주장에 성경구절을 짜 맞추듯이 들이대고 있기 때문입니다.

Pretty much all churches base their teaching on theologians’ theories of their church organizations.

그래서 삶에 아무런 능력이 없어도, 성령의 능력이 나타나지 않아도, 꿀 먹은 벙어리처럼 현실을 외면하고 앵무새처럼 교단교리를 암송하고 있을 뿐이에요.

People just repeated recite the church teachings, even though they are powerless without Holy Spirit’s signs; they just avoid to see the truth.

그렇다면 성경의 하나님은 전지전능하신데, 자신이 믿는 하나님은 무능하고 무기력하다는 게 말이 되나요?

Does it make sense that God today is powerless, whereas God in the Bible is almighty?

현실이 그러함에도 불구하고, 미혹의 영이 쳐놓은 관념적이고 사변적인 신학을 하나님의 말씀이라고 믿고 있으니 기가 막힌 일이죠.

Despite the harsh reality, they believe the concept of faith, which is laid out by spirits of falsehood. Pathetic.

그렇다면 왜 제가 성령이 내주하는 기도를 하라고 요청할까요?

Why do I urge people to pray for Holy Spirit’s indwelling?

성령이 내주하는 기도는 하나님을 쉬지 않고 전심으로 부르는 기도의 습관을 들이는 겁니다.

Praying for Holy Spirit is to continually seek God through prayer.

그러나 대부분의 크리스천들은 이런 기도가 낯설고 부정적입니다.

Unfortunately, most Christians feel unfamiliar and pessimistic toward this prayer.

그동안 신앙생활을 하면서 한 번도 들어보지 못했던 기도이기 때문이죠.

It’s because they’ve never heard anything like this before.

하나님을 부르는 기도의 목적은, 하나님이자신 안에 들어와서 통치하시고 다스리시는 하나님의 나라가 이루어지게 해달라는 기도입니다.

The purpose of this prayer is to ask God to come and govern us, so that we can experience Heaven in our daily life.

그런데 왜 우리네 교인들은 이런 기도가 낯설고 기이하게 여길까요?

But why is this such an unfamiliar concept to Christians today?

그간교회에서 영접기도행위를 하면 성령이 자동적으로 들어오신다고 배워왔기 때문이에요. 일분짜리 영접기도행위가 예수님을 영접하는 것이라고 말이죠.

Because church taught them Holy Spirit comes and resides with them automatically, after receiving a minute-long acceptance prayer.

예수님을 영접한다는 것은 예수님께 자신의 생명과 영혼과 인생을 맡기고, 그분을 자신의 인생과 영혼의 주인으로 받아들인다는 뜻입니다.

Accepting Jesus is to let your life and soul to be governed by him, as your Lord.

그렇다면 날마다 주인을 찾아와서 그분과 깊고 친밀한 교제를 나누어야 하지 않겠습니까?

Then shouldn’t you stay close to your Lord and constantly talk to him?

주인을 찾지 않는 종이 참된 종일 수 없습니다. 그런데 우리네 교인들은 하루에 십분도 기도하지 않죠.

A servant who does not seek his/her master can’t be a good one; but people today don’t even pray for 10 minutes a day.

새벽기도회에 나와 기도하는 이들도 하나님을 찾고 교제하는 기도가 아니라, 자신의 유익을 구하고 삶의 문제를 해결하는 기도에 불과합니다.

Even when they do, they ask God for worldly things that’d benefit themselves.

여러분이 주인이라면 주인의 명령에 관심도 없는 종을 칭찬하고 같이 살고 싶겠습니까?

If you have servants of your own, would you want to live with them if they are not even interested in what you ask them to do?

우리네 목사들과 교인들은 전지전능한 하나님을 삶의 현장에서 경험하지 못하는 이유예요.

That’s why people cannot see and experience God’s miracles in their own lives.

그런데도 하나님을 찾고 그분과 사귀는 기도훈련에 대해 낯설게 여기고 이단비스무리하게 생각하고 있으니 기가 막힌 일이죠.

But people feel awkward to pray--or train to pray--and consider it a cult scheme. Despicable.

제가 훈련하는 기도의 방식이 하나님의 뜻인지 아닌지 분별하는 것은 어렵지 않습니다.

You can easily tell whether this prayer is biblical or not.

전지전능하신 하나님의 능력이 기적으로 내려오느냐를 보면 됩니다.

You can tell by whether God’s power comes down to you in forms of miracles or not.

그동안 영성학교를 연지 4년이 흘렀으며, 수백 명의 사람들이 제 기도훈련을 받아들이고 훈련을 시작했습니다.

It’s been 4 years since CSA opened. Hundreds of people agreed to train and started.

중도에 포기하고 돌아간 이도 적지 않았지만, 많은 이들이 기도훈련을 통해 수많은 기적을 경험했죠.

Yes, many quit in the middle, but also, many experienced miracles through prayer.

귀신이 쫓겨나가면서 수많은 정신질환과 고질병이 치유되고 갖가지 기적들이 일어났습니다.

Many illnesses disappeared as demons left; there were other miracles, countless of them.

적은 수이지만, 필자와 같이 귀신을 쫓아내고 고질병을 치유하는 성령의 능력이 드러나는 제자들도 나타났어요.

Although small in number, there are trainees that started showing signs of the Spirit.

하지만 많은 이들이 제 말을 믿고 싶어 하지 않으며 확인할 생각조차 없습니다.

Many do not want to believe in what I say; they are not even interested to find out if I’m telling the truth.

그러나 매일 살아가는 게 지옥인 사람이라면 필자의 말이 솔깃할 겁니다.

But I’m sure people who are miserable would be willing to listen and follow me.

전지전능한 하나님의 백성이라면 귀신을 쫓아내며 정신질환과 고질병을 치유하는 것은 당연한 일일 것이기도 하고요.

Citizen of God Almighty should be able to work miracles to cast demons out and heal illnesses caused by them.

성경에 그렇게 기록하고 있으니까요.

The Bible says so.
