God Friended Me - a family friendly series from CBS

I have watched a couple of episodes of the CBS series God Friended Me. The first episode had its premiere on CBS on the last day of September, and it has been running ever since then. Is it worth watching?

Miles is the guy of the hour in God Friended Me. He has grown up in a Christian family, and his father is the pastor of a church. Instead of following in the footsteps of his father, he has taken a turn in the opposite direction. As the pilot episode starts we meet Miles doing an interview for his podcast, in which he speaks about how God is dead and only a crutch for those who need something to lean on in life.

But, we do not need to watch for many minutes before things start to take a different turn. It all starts when Miles gets a friend request from God on Facebook. He believes someone is having fun with him, and he constantly denies the friend request. But, after a long battle, he accepts the friend request, and immediately he gets a friend suggestion from God, and he then accidentally bumps into the same person on the street.

You do not need to be a genius to understand that life is about to get complicated for Miles with this God profile on Facebook. Miles is asking his friend to help him out to find out who is behind the God profile, and things are about to get interesting!

Is God Friended Me a Christian show?

If it was, CBS would not air it in prime time and give it that much attention. It might deal with God, but it isn't a show about preaching the gospel. This is more about values and perspective, all served us with a smile and some good jokes. Christians will most likely have a good time watching the series, and it is also very family friendly, but it is not at all a requirement to believe in Jesus for this to be enjoyable. In fact, the constant tension between Miles and his father shows good examples of how important it is to listen to one another and to understand one another, also if we have different beliefs about important matters of life.

Should I watch God Friended Me?

I find the TV series to be very amusing and I like the way it touches the subject of God in a very user-friendly way. It is an easy to watch series, and again, it is very family friendly with no sex or violence (something quite unusual for TV series in these days).
