Christmas Celebration
Oh, Christmas Tree!
In our town, the main industry is fishing: Lobster boats, clammers, draggers, scallopers, tuna boats, charters, and more! All about fishing... so, what better way to kick off our holidays, than with the annual Lighting of the Town Christmas tree? One family has been building this Town Tree for decades, now. Right in the center of Lopes Sq. sits this wonderful homage to both Christmas and the town's heritage on the Sea! That first night, right after Thanksgiving, is the annual lighting ceremony. I missed it this year, since I had to travel for the kids, and getting them back to school. But, I did manage to grab this shot, earlier in the day!

The only thing left, was for one of the young men to climb the tree and add the toppers: Lobster Buoys, as a Tree Topper!

On this day, the little kids were there, climbing the tower of pots, stringing lights... so, the next generation is learning the tradition as well!
What a great idea, to let the children string the lights! That way, they feel like they are part of the festivities (rather than only observers) and a good way to ensure they will carry the tradition forward one day! 😃

The christmas lights go on a tree in the local town square the day of the Christmas Parade that the Legion backstops .. That was last Saturday.
