The Holiday - one of my favorite Christmas movies

The Holiday from 2006 is to me one of the ultimate Christmas movies. It has managed to become one of those movies I can watch over and over again without getting bored.

The Holiday was released in 2016 and it is starring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black. We quickly meet the ladies, Cameron Diaz, a successful film producer in the USA, and Kate Winslet, an unhappy writer working in an office in England. They are both unlucky with their relationships, and they are so fed up with everything that they decide to run away for a while. By a coincidence, they find one another online on a "share your flat/house" site, and thus they decide to swap spots for a couple of days.

Cameron Diaz finds the little cottage outside London to be charming, and even more charming as a beautiful and drunk Jude Law drops by in the middle of the night. Kate Winslet is blown away by the fantastic villa and all the luxury in the house of Cameron Diaz, and there she is also introduced to one of her colleagues played by Jack Black.

You probably get the story, but there are quite a lot of extras and nice elements added to the movie. For example, the part of the movie in which Eli Wallach (Arthur Abbott) gets a role is a very nice addition, which makes it even nicer to watch.

The Holiday - a Christmas movie for the family

The Holiday is one of my absolute favorite Christmas movies. Many people place it at the top of their Christmas lists together with Love Actually, but to me, Love Actually doesn't even come close to The Holiday. This is a much nicer movie to watch with a family, it has some fantastic jokes, and it also teaches us a bit looking at the relationship between Kate Winslet and Rufus Sewell (Jasper Bloom). The latter is her boss who knows that Kate Winslet has a crush on her, and thus he takes advantage of it all the time.

I have no clue how many times I have seen The Holiday, but I guess I need at least two hands to count it. Have you seen The Holiday? Did you enjoy it?
