The new functionality can work even without using the browser
Currently, the standard response of web browsers to auto-launching content is at two extremes, or the page mute or start a surprising and often irritating sound. Of course, sometimes you want to get into the action, which is normal in live broadcasting, etc.

Google Chrome will now take care to automatically decide which pages to mute based on your browsing history. This is happening in the latest version of Chrome, Engadget reports. This means that if you often mute a page, the browser will do it yourself. If you leave the sound turned on, Chrome will also do this.

The new functionality can work even without using the browser. In this case, Chrome will default to the sound of over 1,000 sites that users have left active.
