Daniel

Chapter 1:8-22, pastor begins by telling the history and context of this story. I ran out of coffee and while waving someone to refill my cup, I missed this portion and explanation. Sorry, but below are the general points of the message.

Title of the message: If the glove doesn’t fit.

This title is inspired by a court case that won because the accused tried on a glove and it didn’t fit. Therefore he didn’t commit the crime. Who knows if that is true, but the principle or idea of that example fits the sermon. Society is a glove. Do you fit into the glove given to you because once you accept Christ you are no longer the same, or are you?

Changing size to not fit the glove of society stands true.

Are you bold to stand for righteousness? Are you afraid of being disliked? It’s great to get along with people until you comprise the truth. When you compromise the truth you begin to affect your surroundings. For example, secular music in church. What effect will it have on people that walk and think there is nothing different inside the church than outside?

Narrow is the way to heaven.

When you compromise the truth you destroy the environment around you. The truth causes people to flee. Truth brings death and it also brings life. We all have this desire to find God, some create a god, then refuse to follow when righteous is asked of you.

Stand with righteousness, with boldness, where art thou confidence?

Compromise is corrupting our morality. Where is the boldness of Christians? With that, if boldness is lost so is righteousness. If we were created in the likeness of God if we were made in God goodness, then why don’t we act like it?

When most people do the Daniel fast they lose weight. Daniel gained weight, God feeds him the eternal truth to prove to those men that his wisdom was far greater.

Living by spiritual bread will give you far more. Seeking the Lord, praying daily, will lead to receiving from God. Whenever you lack prayer, do you notice an imbalance? A lack of prayer can cause unrest, can cause chasing of time, and it can cause more reactions to situations. When you are in constant prayer, time chases you, peace follows you, and a greater overall ability to have self-control.

Seek God, let go of gloves that don’t fit you, let go of those friends that don’t fit you, that job that doesn’t fit you, and find the glove God has for you.

God bless...

Another great piece Kubby

Compromise is corrupting our morality. Where is the boldness of Christians?

Christianity and compromise these days are like bread and butter. The fear of living in isolation, or being disliked or feeling that we cannot live up to God's standards and be hypocrites in the process are just some of the causes.

We all need to be steadfast in faith and keep asking God for guidance

Amen, let our lives moving forward be filled with boldness!!
