THE MULE - FILM REVIEW
Again here to write down few lines about the last effort of the 88 years old Clint Eastwood. I'll be honest, i prefer Eastwood as director either than as actor, i dunno why but he is way more meaningful behind the camera than in fron of it. And actually his 4 oscars confirm my idea.
Winning team must not be changed, and again on the side of the old wise man there is again Bradley Cooper, a giant of the screen as alwasy. This time, he is not in the vest of a vet anymore but he is a brilliant DEA agent which tries to catch the cocaine cartel on the south of USA, leadt by a friendly Lawrence Fishburne (aka Morpheus...) which seems never aged (lucky for him).
To me, this last effort of Clint is about life choices and redemption. As a matter of fact
the main character is an old flowrist which dedicated his whole life to work and travelled
the States to attends conventions and florist awards.
His family barely appreciate him and their relationship is really bad, and worst it gets when he does not attend the wedding of his daughter which definitely close relationship with him.
With no plans in mind he join a mexican narco band where he easily gets one of their best
driver (mule) ever and he starts collecting lots of money for each delivery.
Scenography is amazing, lots of solo portrait still frame of him during driving, trying to collect as much as possible from that old and signed face !
Furthermore, since aging comes with wiseness he still provides suggestions to whatever people he mets during his travels and in particular he has some talks with Bradley, where both of them share life an personal troubles.
I can't go ahead withour revealing ssomething of the finale, so i'll stop here, but, one important thing that i wanna say is that the cinema was totally full and this is not so common in my town. This means that people still aprreciate Clint as director and that feels behind his movies are pretty popular among people and i'm not the only one who can figure out them.
I strongly invite you to move your ass and go to the closest cinema who runs The Mule and enjoying this rare piece of high cinema which as always is something more than some entertainment.
