He's innocent. The Name's Akhil Gogoi... But first let me insert a quote:
Activist Akhil Gogoi of India's Assam had won the Right to Information Award by Public Cause Research Foundation for his efforts in exposing the Rs 1.25 crore scam in Sampoorna Gram Rozgar Yojna and Rs 60 lakh scam in the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) in the Assam's Golaghat district. He previously gave sleepless nights to Tarun Gogoi led government when Congress was in power. And now Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP’s Government has lost their peace of mind, thanks to Akhil Gogoi's fearless activism.
He's been branded as Assam's 'militant' crusader by his adversaries. But in the night of 4 June, he's targetted in a viral Facebook video, which was liked by 130,000 netizens and was shared by 1,119 users. In the video, Dibya Jyoti Hazarika – Facebook user and Hindu nationalist – called him deshdrohi (traitor); Hazarika asked why Akhil Gogoi has opposed the settlement of Bangladeshi Hindus in India.
Hazarika endorses the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, that the BJP govt is trying to pass, whereas Akhil Gogoi opposes it tooth and nail. This Citizenship Bill will legalise the Bangladeshi immigrants if they are Hindu – only the Muslims will get deported back to Bangladesh. Their justification is that the Hindus are persecuted in Bangladesh. But that's just an excuse to change the demography of the indigenous areas in the northeast. Their idea is to replicate the situation of Tripura all over the northeast. Tripura, for those who don't know, is a small state in India's northeast, where the Bangladeshi immigrants have outnumbered the native inhabitants, who, after India's independence, have become a minority in their own land. Such a change in demography will make it a lot harder for the native inhabitants to secede from India – that's exactly what the govt of India is trying to achieve.
The native inhabitants of the northeast region are about to turn into a minority in their own land. The govt's intention is evil.
In a deleted Facebook post, Hazarika compared Akhil Gogoi with a goat and stated that he will sacrifice him someday.
