EEE (Eastern equine encephalitis) is a rare disease - but a menacing one as most cases end up in death. And we are at the center of it, so the public is concerned and highway signs warn the public about this danger.

Personally, with just a handful of cases in the state, this is still not a very significant threat - merely a reminder to us all that life is finite and fragile. And no matter how advanced our civilisation may be, all it takes is one viral species to bypass all of our protective barriers.
