Night time cityscape shot with bonus Insane Asylum

The character of a city can complete change after dark, and depending on how you capture and edit your shots, you can bring out different elements of that character. Edinburgh has a lot of old gothic architecture that conveys a pretty dark and medieval feel. I guess that's what I like about this picture. It feels like there is a darkness hiding under the surface.
Of course it doesnt help that one of the most prominent buildings in the center (in the bottom left) was an insane asylum. Later it got shut down and ever since it has been used as government offices. Some kind of administration building filled with rows and rows of people sat at desks typing on typewriters. So, still an insane asylum.

Here's a shot of it from the front, built on the edge of a cliff that overlooks the city, how can it not make you think of Arkham Asylum.

We don't have any caped crusaders or vigilantes but its only a matter of time before someone puts on some underwear over their trousers and starts running around the city solving crime. No one would bat an eye though as we have a lot of theatre students in this town.
