Before the Storm (Original Photography)

Howdy!

Minnesota weather can be quite turbulent. Last night, heat and humidity began to rise in advance of an evening storm that rolled through the area, leaving a little much-needed moisture on the ground.

Here Comes the Rain!
Here, the rain is falling off to the right. While the storm was moving fairly quickly, the rainfall seems to have missed the downtown area completely.

The Other Way
Looking back towards the old mill and train tracks, it almost appears to be a different evening. The clouds were fascinating. Here, the sunlight is illuminating the top of the cumulus clouds, while the bottom remains in shadow.

End of the Power Line
This seemed an oddity. The power lines come from the nearby train station and appear to go underground. It would seem to make more sense to have run the extra 100 feet of cable underground and avoided the need for a pole and exposed wires, but I guess they had their reasons.

Split Personality Church
This is a photo of Saints Peter and Pul church in Mankato. Apparently, it couldn't decide which saint it wanted to be named after and opted for both. The sky adds a lot to this one. I've taken the same shot on a sunny day and proceded to delete it for being too boring.

oo a have the share a photo a took
last summer just before a big storm.
a like the clear air just before it start raining like photo nr one. but the best on is by fare the cross one just on the contrast dark in front and the clouds, its abstract in a way.

Thanks! I like the cooling effect most of our storms have. After the storm rolls through, the temperatures drop significantly.

Those are seriously cool church photos and the rain one is amazing. Did you have to do a timed exposure or point and click (101 times :)

Thanks! The rain one was just being in the right place when the storm came through. you could see it coming for miles and it was in a good spot, when I finally got somewhere with a decent foreground.

The Church picture is very beautifully captured. Nature can be marvelous showing all the vibrancy it can in one go.

Thanks! Dramatic skies are fun to work with. Mnkato has a few nice churches. Between those and some of the amazing houses here, the city must have been very wealthy in the past.

Great collection of photographs @fotosdenada. I particularly like the top one and the one with the churches. 😊

Thanks! I like when the sky cooperates. :-)

We did get some rain after all....not for long but a deluge. Helped me sleep. :)

Your photos are awesome! I especially love the church one - the mood is serene - even though dark it is peaceful.

You know the mill in the second photo? (of course you do) it looks like it's being pulled by the clouds ....see?

I also noted that you have a thing with your photos - like a Mark tell - you illuminate lights. I love it - it makes the photo look 3D in a way.

Thanks! I tried to take a photo of the huge pipe organ inside, last summer, but the organist left papers and "stuff" all over, so it wasn't a clean, pretty image. I may have to take one from below, some day.

That mill might be getting pulled along! The clouds looked almost as if they were solid, with the dramatic lighting. You can tell it's a wide-angle shot, with that lovely warping of perspective.
