Classical-Music Curation 17th May 2018

Opening Ramble

Yay, I managed to write this before the last one paid out! Hopefully a reduced workload, however, by the looks of all the open tabs, it could still be a long write! At least the baby has stopped screaming.... I'm trying out new headings for this week, let's see how that works out.

So, just a quick reminder for people to use only the #classical-music tag and NOT the @classical-radio tag. It's very nice that you use it, but I don't check it!

Please post in #classical-music if you want the support of the two community accounts (@classical-music and @classical-radio). The accounts are manually curated and it is too time consuming to chase posts all over Steemit!

Please help us out by flying the community colours, the cut and paste code is the Discord.

If you haven't done so already, consider following the curation trail at SteemAuto and also following @classical-radio on your fanbase. Easy to do, helps support the community (and by extension yourself) and you get easy curation rewards!

Comment, upvote and resteem. Support each other and we will grow strong together as a community!

Community Performances

Plucked instruments

@digitalopus leads up the listening round with a virtuosic performance of O Voo da mosca (The flight of the fly), a Gabán y Catira and a special composition for his wife Por toda la eternidad. (For all eternity). Thanks for the great playing!

@heatherthebard gives us a great interpretation of Der Haupff Auff on a baritone ukelele. I had no idea there were different sizes of ukelele, you learn something new every day!

@mayneth is a newcomer, but they have started strongly with this duo Tango Suite by Piazolla

Thank you to @laviq for his performance of Heitor Villa-Lobos - Etude No1

@guifaquetti gives us Leo Brouwer - Estudios Sencillos, n1 Movido. Thank you, I'll never get tired of your talking at the start!

Keyboard instruments

@bernardtjames wishes his mother a very beautiful Mother's Day with Amanda’s Ballad. He also gives us A Song To Remember.

@cmp2020 is back with a performance of his composition, Assurance of Grace

Strings

@montanacellist gives us some Bach - Prelude in G with Crystal singing bowls, I'm sure that Bach would have thought of this had he the bowls on hand!

@kkarenmp tackles the great Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto! Congratulations! Next with orchestra?

Singers

@moccamonica continues to impress us with another great performance of I've got the world on a string.

I guess this is singing, even though there is a guitar! Thank you to @davidcentenor for sharing this ensemble of "LA Guitarra del Joven Soldado - Silvio Rodriguez.

Reading

@freyman continues his comparison series with Irving Berlin >> "Cheek to Cheek".

@edje gives us a write up about a new and interesting Dutch harp, a unique type of instrument, played by Remy van Kesteren.

@zpedro gives us his insight into Schumann, my friend in insanity

MEMEMEME!!!!

This week I collected my favourite personal recordings on Steemit, and I began my expedition for @blockmountain here. I also wrote about one of my more unusual instruments that I play, the Viola d'amore.

Admin stuff

My writing allocation will forever stay at the lower value of 10 percent. It ensures a fairer distribution of the the rewards for the post.
