Composer of the week #9 (Katchaturian, Schumann and Nielsen) (SBD Share)

At the suggestion of @freyman, I will try and include women composers as well. In their words it was a bit of a "turnip field" of choices! That's a cute turn of phrase that I didn't know!

Next Week's composers

So the composers of the week will be: Igor Stravinsky, Rebecca Clarke and Evard Grieg

The first Schumann violin sonata holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first pieces that I played together with my future girlfriend, who later became my wife. Fond memories!

My story with Stravinsky and "la sacre du printemps".

A young girl played in the music band, and I, from that one flirted with the Zeppelin and the Floyd and things like that, I asked her to recommend me a classic piece to start learning something.
She suggested me "A consagración da Primavera", de Stravinsky.

The truth that I need some time to understand the work: I did not find the rhythm, the thread, it seems to me to change all the time of rhythms ... I do not know ... something impossible the beginning ... so hard...
Today I have it as one of my favorite works.
Ps: this video has a broken in the initial minutes ...

Thanks for the submission! It will be in the next composer of the week!

XD !! Itś no all !!!

This is the first time I've come across your Composer of the Week so I didn't quite understand the part about "shares" (one here, three on Discord) - maybe you could enlighten me. My comment takes the form of a mini programme note:

Rebecca Clarke (1886−1979) is counted as an English composer and indeed she was born, brought up and died there, although her mother was German, her father American, and she spent at least part of her adult life in the US. She’s best known for chamber music using her own instrument, the viola, and my selection - written in 1940 or 41, so a wartime piece - is a particularly beautiful example. As with the much more famous Fantasia by Vaughan Williams, the “old tune” of the title is attributed to Thomas Tallis. Exploiting the viola’s rich, veiled timbre to the full, the piece begins in sombre, restrained style but becomes more impassioned as it unfolds. It deserves to be better known, in my opinion.

Sure, the payout of the post (so, the next one for this submission) is divided into equal shares. If you made the submission by comment here on Steemit, then you take one share. If you make the submission on Discord (in the appropriate channel...) then you take 3 shares. If you do both, then you take 3 only!

This submission is effect. If you want more shares of the payout, then plop it in the discord (composer of the week channel).

Thanks for the confirmation. I understand "this submission is effect" as "it's OK as it stands, but if you wanted a bigger share you should go to the Discord". Not too bothered, only curious - fun to take part.

Yes, that's it!
