Georg Andreas Sorge, Auf Christenmensch

in #classical-music6 years ago (edited)

Georg Neumeister did not only chose works from Bach family members and their contemporaries Like Zachow and Erich, he also included several preludes of his teacher Georg Andres Sorge in his collection. They were certainly copied from a different source, since Sorge’s preludes are not only much more recent, they are also the pieces of which a contemporary (to Neumeister) source still exists. They were taken from Sorge’s published collection of eight chorale preludes, published in 1750. They are, like most works by Sorge, not very deep, but well written and pleasant to play and listen to. Sorge's prelude to "Auf Christenmensch" is no exception.

The recording was done on the sample set of the Van Dam organ (1832) in Tholen by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.
