But Winter *Is* Coming

We've had a glorious few days of "Indian Summer" - this was the golden view of the High Street a couple of days ago when I went out for my end of day stroll.

I remember 1978 or 1979 being like this. We went away in the Autumn half-term expecting to need wellies macs and jumpers but hanging out in t-shirts instead, waking every morning with disbelief that it was yet another lovely day.

Being in that space between the equinox and the end of British Summer Time can be confusing, although the nights are getting longer, we don't notice it nearly so much because of the artificial adjustment of the clocks, but when we get to the end of October, we'll really know that winter is coming. I have a feeling that this year that transition will feel all the more sudden and brutal because of the warmth and sunlight we've had this week.
