A good number of weekdays have passed since Mathew Jonson did his magic in de Marktkantine in my little city Amsterdam. The Dutch Nuno dos Santos opened the (Friday) night. Somehow this guy managed to jump so much through his collection of music, I was not able to get anything going in my brains. Instead of focusing on his music, we started to discuss and at some point, even debate all sort of topics on the dance floor… Not what this is meant for, but some fun needs to be created when the music is not up to some standard.

Therefore, it was a big relieve when Mathew started his performance, almost half an hour late. Discussions and debates stopped almost immediately and musical pleasure time started. From time to time goosebumps. All in all, a solid ride!

But the closing act, Steve Rachmad killed it! For about two hours we got thrown master tracks almost constantly! No time to rest, no time to get drinks, and almost no time to even breath! Loved the special unreleased remix of “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, a track I heard for the first time a couple of years ago at a special place somewhere in Germany.

Only a few Amsterdam based clubs have 24hrs licenses, but Marktkantine is not one of them; Hence the night stopped early, at 5am. Was it time for bed already? Of course not! A good walk later, we ended up in this apartment setup to keep us engaged: arty laser lights, big projector with cool visuals, great sound system, even better music, no neighbours and still a whole weekend in front of us without any commitments other than having fun :)
