1. APL Logistics joins Blockchain in Transport Alliance

APL Logistics has become the latest member of the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA).
Blockchain technology is promising to transform the supply chain and change how goods are transported from manufacturers to freight forwarders, and ultimately to the hands of consumers. Companies which were previously only competitors, will now have the opportunity to use this technology to communicate and share information without assuming security risks. BiTA, a neutral organization, provides the platform where all these discussions and inter-companies’ cooperation can occur.
APL Logistics is exploring the innovative uses of blockchain technology within the supply chain. “APL Logistics recognizes the importance and future value of blockchain,” said May Chew, the company’s chief information officer. “Our industry must be aligned to develop standards in order to get us all closer to reaping the benefits that can be experienced from this blockchain movement. As a participant in this alliance, we seek to bring value by leveraging our 170 years of shipping and logistics experience.”

The long-awaited question finally gets an answer! Tsyvinski tells investors that before anything, one should invest based on their comfort level – whether it implies the associated risks or how hopeful they are of a particular project. At the same time, he argues that investors who have faith in Bitcoin should “hold 6% of your portfolio in Bitcoin,” adding that those who trust it will do “half as well […] should hold 4%.” Finally, those who are still skeptical about its ability to disrupt industries, should stick to a portfolio consisting of at most 1% of Bitcoin.

3. KT-신한은행 '맞손…' 블록체인 신규 사업 공동 추진

KT는 신한은행과 KT 광화문빌딩 이스트에서 블록체인 기술 기반의 신규 사업을 공동으로 추진하기 위해 업무 협약을 체결했다고 8일 밝혔다.
이번 업무협약으로 KT와 신한은행은 새롭게 진행하는 금융, 공공 분야의 신규 사업에 KT가 개발한 'KT 네트워크 블록체인'을 활용키로 했다. KT 네트워크 블록체인은 KT가 전국에 구축한 초고속 네트워크에 블록체인을 결합한 장비를 구축해 정보의 보안과 신뢰를 강화하는 기술이다.
양사는 최근 지역 경제 활성화를 위해 지방자치단체 별로 도입하고 있는 지역상품권에 블록체인 기술을 활용하는 사업을 우선적으로 추진할 방침이다.
