Gliding Starfish. Boomerang Beach, Australia. Day 25 and 26. Art. Montage. Photography.

in #collage5 years ago (edited)

I move
Imperceptibly.
Beneath waves. Over sand.
Holding the energy of earthly time.
I am receptive to the light of the stars.
~Starfish.

Third Seven Day Covenant.

I have worked with many traditional art modalities: drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture and photography. And at this stage of my Art Journey I'm seeing a lot of relevant relationships and connections with mediums converging within my art-making practice. ~Ally.
In the first two weeks of my Covenant to make an artwork, or do something that contributes to the making of an artwork and share it at Steemit every day, I developed a small series of Eco-collages. ~Ally.
For my third Seven-Day Covenant, I worked on a single piece: A Pink Rose that incorporated some of the elements that appeared in my Eco-collage: Pink Rose. Day 15 ~Ally.
For my current Seven-Day Covenant, I've been working with the theme of rockpools and starfish using the same format that evolved in A Pink Rose: Three small squares in vertical alignment on either side of a square image.
I shared the process of creating the image format in: A Tribe of Starfish. and today I'd like to share another image: Gliding Starfish where this same format has been used: Using my own photographs of the rockpools at Boomerang Beach.

Background Images.

These two images, to be blended, were selected.

Six small squares.

Six small squares, each with a slightly smaller inner square and a single starfish in each were added to these images that were then combined for Gliding Starfish: Using the format of 3 squares in vertical alignment on either side of the image.

You can see the creation of the images of the individual starfish within their squares in A Tribe of Starfish.

Final Image: Gliding Starfish.

Most of the starfish were firmly gripping the rocks, but this red starfish had only just been carefully placed back on the rock and so it almost looks as if it's effortlessly gliding across the rock now.

SUMMARY of the Development of this Series.

Easter Rose. The elements within the format. Beginning with the six squares on either side of the image.

A Pink Rose.

Introduction of the six squares, three on either side of the image. Inner squares of the six squares forming as a result of the drawing of these squares underneath.

Happiness doesn't lie in the objects:
We gather around us.
To find it:
All we need to do:
Is open our eyes.
~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

A Pink Starfish.

Using the same format with a new theme: Rockpools and starfish. The tones of the background and the squares are similar and so the squares tend to blend in with the background. Earth element.

Grown ups never understood anything by themselves.
And it is rather tedious to have to explain things to them time and again.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The Little Prince.

A Tribe of Starfish.

Combining two images in the background image.

Background and squares are still similar in tone. However, the border of the squares differentiates them. Earth and water elements.

One by one our comrades deprive us of their shade:
And within our mourning we feel now the secret grief of growing old.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Wind, Sand and Stars.

Jewels of the Rockpool.

Endless possibilities of images simply by using different backgrounds.

If I search among my memories for those whose taste is lasting:
If I write the balance sheet of the moments
That truly counted: I surely find those
That no fortune could have
Bought me.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Wind, Sand and Stars.

Surfs Up. No 1.

Using an image of the surroundings of the rockpool. Colours are brighter. Air and water elements.

SQU.2000.starfish.blended grids.surfers.jpg

Nothing, in truth, can ever replace a lost companion.
Old comrades cannot be manufactured.
There is nothing that can equal
The treasure of so many
Shared memories.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Wind, Sand and Stars.

Surfs Up. No 2.

Combining two images in the background image. Having reached this stage in my Photoshop 'skills' I have the feeling that slightly more 'surrealistic' images will develop in the coming week/s.

SQU.2000.starfish.blended grids.surfers3.jpg

So many bad times endured together,
So many quarrels, reconciliations, heartfelt impulses.
Friendships like that cannot be reconstructed.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Wind, Sand and Stars.

Boomerang Bay.

All the images in this present series are based on photographs that I took a few years ago at Boomerang Beach which is 400 kms north of Sydney.

The wonder of the day and the rockpools in particular are described in A Magical Moment.

Sheltering in the shallows of the crevices and all along the edges of the rocks of the rockpools were not just a couple of starfish but whole tribes of them: Half buried in the sand, their muted grey, decorated with different markings of dusty pinks and pale blues, punctuated with bright aqua. ~Ally.
Photoshop.
I've only recently started to dabble with Photoshop again. Not one for manuals, I just play intuitively and then try to remember what I've done. A total novice, but I'm finding my way around layering and the logical ordering of layers now. So I'm really happy with my slow but steady self-relearning program. ~Ally.

A heart that is holding infinite possibilities.
A creative who is learning to trust the mystery of what will be.
A spirit that is willing to fly into new creative realms and share the journey.
~Ally.

All of the pieces are just beautiful. I love the tribe of starfish, so cool!

Thanks so much Wanda. I think the tribe of starfish was one of my favourite images in this series. Using different photographs of the starfish, in combination, opens up so many possibilities now. Thinking of making some handmade collages using these images as well. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎
