A field of gold

I captured this beautiful view just outside Ashbourne, County Meath on Ireland's East coast. I was driving by a few days ago, and was struck by the sea of yellow, and never stopped. When I passed a few days later, I said feck this, and I pulled in, darted across the road and captured these shots. I think it looks especially nice against the cobalt blue back drop, which is not characteristic of our little country :o)

This song popped into my head when I saw this field of gold today. If you're not familiar with the song, have a little lesson, it will be medicine to your ears :o)

I'm pretty sure it is Rapeseed, which has become a popular crop in Ireland recently, I guess to produce rapeseed oil, which is seen as a healthy alternative to standard vegetable oil.

I tell you one thing, nature is beautiful, and when the sun shines, I appreciate it all the more, as all the vibrant colours around us get to show of their rich array of colours like a proud peacock spreading it's plume of feathers.
