The indigo color is one of the seven colors that belong to the rainbow, it is the traditional denomination of the darker and deeper varieties of the blue color, in transition towards the lilac color.
Color with strong Mediterranean reminiscences. The use of indigo color dates back to 1580 BC in ancient Egypt, where it was identified in the bandage of mummies. We find the first mention in Western texts of the dye thanks to Vitruvius in the 1st century BC. But its great roots in the Mediterranean is due to its use, precisely with lime, to paint the baseboards of the facades of the houses of a large part of the Mediterranean arch. Source
