💡ColorChallenge - Yellow Wednesday. 🌝Solar antidepressant St John’s 🌝
Hello everybody!
Are you familiar with this miracle of nature? In my youth I spent the summer in the mountains and collected various herbs for a fragrant herbal hot drink. St. John's wort has always been a welcome prey for me. I did not know too much about his medicinal properties. I liked how bright yellow flowers look in my hot drink!
These shots I took in the garden of the Center for Environmental Education and Conservation (Berlin)
Hypericum perforatum, also known as St John’s wort, has been regarded as a medicinal herb for at least two thousand years, being first mentioned in the first century by the Greek herbalist Pedanios Dioskourides.Traditionally, Hipericum had been utilized for a variety of medical purposes such as the treatment of burns, wounds, hematomas, inflammations, and muscle pain.It has also been used to reduce fearfulness and melancholy, and is depicted in various religious texts as a “demon chaser”.
In modern medical practice, St. John's wort extract is used as a medicine for the treatment of mild and moderate depression.
⚠️But do not rush to use it without consulting your doctor or having studied the instructions in detail. This is really an effective medicine with side effects and contraindications! However, several flowers in your mug can not hurt you, even with daily intake.
