Color Challenge Orange Tuesday - Saucy Orange Cake
I'm taking a trip down memory lane - #colorchallenge by @kalemandra - but will be doing a Tuesday Orange with a difference - sharing a recipe for a divine Saucy Orange Cake.
It seems like Tuesdays are doomed here in our nick of the woods as we were left without power last Tuesday evening, which through a comedy of errors only came back on 31 hours later!
This Tuesday afternoon, when I opened the tap, I noticed the water pressure was not what it should be and my suspicion was confirmed when I drove down the road a little later and saw a waterfall running down the road - yes bad news, a burst water main, and by late afternoon the taps had run dry!
As we're running a little bnb this is disastrous for us, fortunately a rare occurance and thankfully we only have one guest here tonight. Funnily enough he's here to train plumbers at a training facility near us!
Thank goodness the water came back on just after he arrived back tonight...so I'm feeling a whole lot brighter now!

I will share the recipe for my Saucy Orange Cake with you, it is absolutely divine - a soft sponge soaked with a gorgeous fresh Orange juice & rind sauce.
RECIPE
- Cream: 125 gram Butter + 1 cup Sugar + grated Orange rind + 2 Eggs
- Add 1 1/2 cups Cake Flour + 1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder + 1/2 cup Milk
- Bake at 170 C fan oven 25 min
Sauce - Mix 3/4 cup Sugar + juice of 1 or 2 Oranges
- Cut cake into squares and pour sauce over while still warm
Note
Oranges can be replaced by Lemons if you wish

I guess orange is the color of my day today, just finished up reading @zen-art carrot post with your orange dessert cake. Looks very tempting Lizelle, now to show the girls what you have created, we have a Satsuma orange tree that has a few left on it that might make for a good cake.

Nice to see you're back from counting whatever you had to count mr Papper, I hope the girls make this for you, it's really delicious!
I think they can be convinced to do it since we have the fruit on the tree and are ripe right now. The Satsumas are smaller than the regular oranges but I think they can figure it out.

Tasty! I can taste it all the way here ;) When I first saw the post the first thing that came to mind was when I was a young girl scout....we camped and one of our first meals included an orange cake baked over the campfire in a dutch oven. lol Not nearly tasty like this I'm quite certain! Sorry to hear you were out of power for 31 hours and then to discover low water pressure. This orange cake looks absolutely moist and delicious. It's the perfect all day snacking cake.
It really was terribly inconvenient @loveself, we normally do not have service delivery issues here but I'm starting to wonder what's happening now! That cake does not last very long here but I don't make it often as it's way too tempting for my diabetic hubby ;) Thank you for your feedback!

Awww, a lemon cake that is not a lemon cake :D I think it is better with orange :)
You can actually replace the orange with lemons, I must add that to my post, thank you @zen-art ;)
