Akebia vine growing near mason bee home

These vines are found in Asia as well, I have seen them in pictures around Japan. And if you have two vines they can produce fruit. They also have great smelling flowers, and their mature vines make great cordage. But if untouched they will spread all over the plant and become quite invasive.
The mason bee home is two pieces of 2x4 that was heat treated. I nailed them together and drilled a bunch of holes for homes to bees to make. The mature mason bees will lay eggs in the holes and back fill with mud. Hince their names mason bees, they use mud to build structures.
I think I need to improve on my design as they only used maybe ten percent of the holes I drilled. I find they prefer bamboo sticks so maybe a redesign using those would be a good idea.
