Tree trunk with vines growing up

I am amazed by how many layers of plant life can live in a small area, vines grow up large trees to get to the sunlight. And the moss on the ground fills area of bare dirt to maximize stray sun rays coming through the tree canopy.

In just one photo, it shows how many vines, bushes and shrubs can live in just one area in nature. Im not sure if this is due to the Squirrels, I was told that they have bad memories where they bury nuts. So you get unusually more dense forests where a lot of squirrels live.

Many of the vines growing in the forests around where I live is posion ivy. There is a saying “fuzzy vine, no friend of mine” meaning fuzzy vines where that saying started are usually poison ivy or oak vines. Some have tried to climb them or rub against them and got a very bad allergenic reaction. I try to stay away from the stuff, but so far I have not has any cases of outbreaks from mistakenly handling it.

Another saying is “Leaves of Three, Let it be” as both ivy and oak have this red tri leaf pattern. Something to be mindful of if handling, burning or otherwise being exposed to these plants.
